I'm trying to remember the name of a series of books where 4 kids are transported to another (fantasy) world and they have to save the world. It's not Chronicles of Narnia. In this book, the kids learn that they have special powers, one is a witch, I don't remember what the other kids can do. At one point, some of the kids return home, but then have to go back to. There's some tree involved, so I'm think the name is winter tree or winter haven or something similar, but I'm drawing a blank.

Students in Malaysia learn English as a second language. The average learners are able to read the text but many are unable to visualize what they read, hence, comprehension is hampered. One reason for this is because the said students have no prior knowledge of the content or subject matter. By watching a movie, one would be able to talk about its theme, characerization, plot, climax of the story, etc. as is done with literary text. Here, stdents get to see and talk about it and perhaps later write about it. What say you?

This really puzzles me. My impression is that nobody really wanted war in 1914, and the assassination was a local dispute. The course and magnitude of the war seems to bear no resemlance to its immediate cause.

I'm in college now, and studied poetry a bit in high school. We used a great book called "Sound and Sense," which not only taught the grammatical aspects of poetry, but presented some amazing poems. I am now looking for a book, besides this one, that takes famous poems and disects them line by line explaining what each line means. I feel this will help me get back into learning how to decipher poetry better. Thanks.

I need some ideas, that's all. I have a story that I need to do for school and usually I can come up with ideas, but it seems nothings coming. So I was just wondering if you could help me get the juices flowing. All I really need is an idea, nothing more. I'd reallly appreciate that.

The question kind of says it all:
What was Harry Truman interested in when growing up? What are some important things he did as president?

I need them for a biography of him, but those two things I can't seem to find.
