I am working on a project in which I have to describe to social impact of an event or movement in the late 20th century, but I am having problems finding reputable sources describing the San Francisco counterculture movement in the mid to late 1960s. Any help is appreciated!

Well Wiki has a lot of information on the history of Haight. I think what really brought the hippies into Haight though were the Acid Tests. By researching Ken Kesey, The Merry Pranksters and the Grateful Dead you outta get a good amount of information.

Momma gave you three good leads.......more specifically, in the Grateful Dead, look at Phil Lesh's semi autobiography " Searchin for the Sound" lots of good stories on those days when "there was music in the cafes at night and revolution in the air"
