Well, people who think they're doing evil don't really have the courage of their convictions. Most people who think they're doing evil feel guilty and, on some level, want to be stopped.
People who think they are doing good, on the other hand, think they're entitled to do it and readily persuade themselves that the end justifies the means. Thus they move right along from persecuting marginalized minority groups to crimininalizing them to killing them to torturing them before killing them, and so on.

Because some of the most evil people in the world don't know the meaning of the word BAD.

Everyone has their own idea of what good is and so because everyone is seeking to accomplish that own ideal paths clash and therefore terrible things happen. Not to mention that people drastically misunderstand the world and so with the wrong interpretation do something that they never should have. Therefore people let themselves be misguided by the world that they are living in.

Heh...'good' or 'god'?
In any case, quite simple really:
1) people do things without understanding the full implications of their actions
2) when wanting to do something that history will view as 'evil,' you have to get people to buy into it somehow. Selling it as being done in the name of good goes a long way.

Evil covers its head with a bag with Good on it. It goes among the crowd putting bags on other people. Then everyone has a bag and starts commiting sin then TRIES TO COVER IT UP WITH GOOD DEEDS.

Evil people claim to be doing "good" in order to get non-thinking reactionaries to follow them. That's why it pays to think for yourself. Also, there are well-intentioned people who try to control what other people do (making rules and laws, etc.) to "save" people from themselves. That never works. Everyone has free will and everyone should make their own choices based on what they believe. Don't be a follower!

There are many who can't stand being disagree upon. They can't take criticisms positively, and post hatred directly on one or a group that stands on the opposite side of their point of view.
Then by the dogma they are following, they have to do the "right thing" to protect what they believe.
It is really sad...

Because one of the greatest evils is to mislead in the name of God, or in the case of your question "good". Corruption is like the ultimate evil, and it isn't that easy to corrupt if you are upfront about something being bad.

Only psychopaths are content with committing horrible acts just for the sake of committing them.
All others who commit the same acts need a reason. "To punish the infidels," "to become a martyr," "because it was ordained by God/Allah/Buddha/Elvis," and "to preserve our freedom" are common excuses.

it is ironic indeed. we normally choose something evil not because we think it's evil, but something we thought it could make us happy, the good we seek.
any good thing that is accomplished with an evil purpose is not good. but any bad thing that is accomplished with a noble purpose is not bad.
we all think Robin Hood's a hero.
