Yes, Gilliat in "Toilers of the Sea" by Victor Hugo. He's this poor, overlooked person who falls in love with someone and risks life and limb for her love. Then in the end she falls in love with someone else and he never tells her how he really feels because he wants her to be happy. He commits suicide watching her sail away with who she loves. I could SO love that guy!

Yes! Gabriel Oak from Far from the Madding Crowd. He's this sweet, shy farmer who is in love with a woman who is way out of his league. He's so kind to her, though. He cares for her and does everything he can for her even when she doesn't notice him!
