where did the materials come from?

This goes to our ingrained "cause and effect" idea. We all seem to think everything has a cause and effect, even going as far back as to "what caused the creation of the world?"...but is it really infinite regress, stopping with "God"? If God just appeared, what made God? OR..if you believe in the big bang theory, where did that first atom or living cell come from? And if "God" just appeared into nothingness, Him even creating "light" and "dark" then did he come INTO nothingness, or was nothingness here first? Did that nothingness "exist" before God?

Is he, indeed, ever able to perceive himself completely, as if laid out in a lighted display case? Does nature not conceal most things from him-even concerning his own body-in order to confine and lock him within a proud, deceptive consciousness, aloof from the coils of the bowels, the rapid flow of the blood stream, and the intricate quivering of the fibers?

I saw a documentary which showed revolutionary New Yorkers demolishing a statue of George III. This made me wonder if any similar statues have survived, maybe in places like Williamsburg. I imagine not, but in other ex-colonies which were happy to be free of British rule, like Ireland and India, a few such statues have managed to survive. Do any Americans here know of any?

I am looking to get in touch with Tony's remaining family in Ireland, including Olive Hodgins, Anna Kavanagh, Willie and Matt Murtagh. I do not intend to interfere with anyone who does not wish to make contact with us, but any information about his life, his family, will be warmly met. We will act responsibly and sensitively.
Thank you,
Yours hopefully,
from Manchester.

Isn't true freedom anarchy? Isn't true equality communism? If you are truly free, aren't you free to be unequal i.e. discriminate based on whatever criteria, nepotism, etc? If everyone is truly equal doesn't that go against meritocracy?

This is for research for my novel. I remember this made news this summer about a college professor who plagarized art. I'm wonder if you can copy the painting like Picasso or O'Keefe did, without missing or changing anything. Is that considered to be plagarism in art or is that legal? Is there another term for it too?

I remember learning in school about a woman who during the revolutionary war (or maybe it was the civil, I'm not sure but it was a war in the U.S along time ago) took over the cannons whenever all of the soldiers were dead or injured. I also believe before this occurred she was going around with a pitcher of water giving it to the wounded/tired soilders. I think she also has a nickname that has something to do with a water pitcher. Any thoughts would be appreciated as my husband is an artillary man in the US Army and this would be something close to out hearts as she showed great strength and bravery to do such a thing. Maybe we will name our first girl after her :o)
