I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but...there's really no such thing as "method acting." It's a non-specific phrase that has grown up around any number of schools of naturalistic acting. In the original, it comes down to us from Stanislavsky, but most American actors became familiar with his teachings via Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, et al.

In my long experience, it has generally proven true that actors who consider themselves to be "method actors" are merely using the term to justify all sorts of wildly self-indulgent behaviors...most of which tend to make them terribly self-oriented, and rob them of their most important tool as an actor: the ability to LISTEN and REACT to what is going on OUTSIDE of them.

It'll come as easy to you as acting will. Which is a vague answer, but not knowing how good/bad of an actor you are, the question is virtually unanswerable. I was a theater major in college (before changing and going into nursing) and I personally hated the method actors. They were typically obnoxious sorts of people. I didn't feel as though they were any better (or worse) than actors who could get into character just during rehersals and performances. Method acting is a style of acting in which a person gets and stays in character 24/7 (and let me be the first to tell you, you'll probably lose all your friends...it really is annoying!). There are classes that teach that - especially in bigger cities (NYC and LA). Good Luck!

Sadly, Ducky doesn't understand "Method" acting. It is NOT getting into character, and staying there 24/7

To understand method acting, you need to study... and I've heard some people say that it takes at least twenty years for someone to become a really good actor. I can tell you this... some people get it, and some people don't... some people catch on right away... others struggle for years without a clue. You spend a lifetime adding more "Tools" to your actors toolbox, and you pull them out and use them when you need them.

a) the above description of method acting (in character 24/7) is not accurate...at all.

b) it is ridiculously narrow minded to think all of any group of people are obnoxious, simply for their interest in a given genre of theatre LOL

c) nothing worth doing is easy :-)
