For instance, what do you think about the film "Capote"? To those who have seen the film and didn't read the book, did it make you want to read it? And to those who did read it, what did you think about the film? There are also adaptations of the classics, as Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", "Hamlet" and "A Midnight Summer's dream". The main idea I have, as a foreigner, is that in english speaking schools, when confronted with their first Literature classes, most students relly on films and internet rather than reading. Is this true? Please comment both students and teachers, according to your experience.

I recently asked, "Child Sexual Abuse and it's outcome?"

I would like to add. My husband feel he needs intervention and not counseling. I also do not believe everyone benefits from the same things and counseling is not for him. He's an extremey wise person and counseling would only offset him and not help him.
I suggest Meditation, maybe a Vipassana Course, something along those lines.
Any suggestions?

why do people make fun of overweight, mentaly challenged, ect. people???
why do you care what others look like or talk like or wear or live in a poor house, or have different color skin then you.
all you need to worry about is your self!!! not what others look like! you all just need to shut up and STOP IT, ok?! the only reason you do it is because your incecure about your self. and if anyone reads this and has had some one call you fat or ugly, or stupid, or anything else that hurt you im really sorry you got hurt, so dont listen to them because you know that you are better then that, but... i feel even sorrier for the people who made fun of you because they think they need to make fun of you just to feel good about them selves.

My husband was sexually abused by his father for almost three years starting at age 8. His father was also going thru chemotherapy while he was abusing him. My husband seems to have forgiven his father but not his mother b/c she didn't do anything about it. he speaks highly of his father since he taught him what he knows before all this abuse and his death, yet his mother is someone whom he can't forgive.
In most cases I hear, the victim has a hard time letting go of the abuser's actions and hard tiume forgiving them.
How is it that my husband can forgive his father yet not his mother besides the obvious reasons?

Could it be b/c his father felt terrible everytime he did it and his mother till this day, never admitted to doing anything wrong?

In fact she said she didn't do anything about it b/c "I didn't feel it was bothering you. I didn't see you becoming gay from it."

If I mix white paint with blue paint, I get light blue paint.

If I mix white paint with green paint, I get light green paint.

If I mix white paint with red paint, why don't I get light red paint? Why do we need a special word for that one hue?

My dad has battled with type 2 Diabetes for several years. In the past three or four years, it has gotten extremely worse. Their have been times that he has lost consciousness while driving and been in a few accidents (thankfully - no one else was hurt expect my dad in these accidents). The state will not revoke his licenses as long as he can pass the eye test, even though he is partially blind in both eyes due to Cataract disease. He is only in his mid-50 and can be very stubborn when it comes to giving up his freedom to rome around when and where he wants to. Between the four of us children, we can't seem to convince him of the dangerous game his is playing with his life and others.
