Does anyone here speak in tongues? If so, have you ever felt pressured to be moved by the spirit and "faked it"?

I've been reading a bunch of ex-Pentecostals on another forum and they are admitting to resorting to "Yabba dabba doo" and whateber that peewee herman phrase was (meeka leeka hidey ho or something) as children to make people think they were moved by the spirit. One person (the one who used the peewee herman thing) said that she was locked in a room all the girls from the church and told to invite the spirit in and try to speak in tongs. The person who locked them in said that if they weren't meved by the spirit now, they probably never would be so they would probably go to hell.

Another poster spoke of a woman who would give a 5-minute "lalalalalalalalala" every 2 weeks. (He suggested that maybe "la" meant badger in some ancient language and she was actually saying badgerbadgerbadger, which cracked me up, but that's not the pt.

Have you experienced anything similar?

A projectile is fired at 45.0° above the horizontal. Its initial speed is equal to 127.5 m/s. Assume that the free-fall acceleration is constant throughout and that the effects of the air can be ignored. What is the maximum height reached by the projectile?

At what time after being fired does the projectile reach this maximum height?

My husband has sleep apnea, he has not been diagnosed, but every night i have to nudge him 10 times so he starts breathing again. He is dead set that it is something in our apartment that is causing his apnea. He thinks the vents are so dirty, they are the reason. That or the air is sooo dry his throat sticks together. I have never read about environmental things causing apnea, but who knows. Please anyone, have you ever heard of something like this?

I am not an american but I heard the american government refused categorically to reduce air pollution in their economy. So I wonder if the american citizen are aware of the great danger of global warming, or if you think it's bullshit. Do you care personally or do you think as your government does ?

Sorry for my english.

Regards.

I haven't heard anyone discuss this yet. But if anyone wanted to end his run for candidacy, all they have to do is ask him whether he wears the Mormon magic underwear or not.

I imagine he would decline to answer. But if he did so, of course, he would be admitting that he does.

Even the Christians would call him crazy if they found out about that, though.

But seriously, has this been mentioned anywhere?

She was exposed to my sister's untreated, allegedly flea-less dog but is stricktly an indoor cat. I have found a few what could be flea bites on my arm (it could also be a spider bite from the new christmas tree). Still I comb through her and find nothing. She is 7lbs and I would rather not treat her without being sure and I don't really have the funds for a non-emergency non-routine vet apointment right now.

I'm struggling with another problem from Rotman, namely:

If a group G has exactly two conjugacy classes, and at least one element of finite order, prove that it is isomorphic to the cyclic group of order 2.

Here's what I've got.

A. Let a be an element of order n. Then any other non-identity element is a conjugate of a, and hence has order dividing n.

B. By a very similar argument, all non-identity elements have the same order.

C. Obviously, that order must be a prime.

D. If that prime equals 2, the result is easy to prove as follows:

For any non-identity a and b, ab has order 2 (or 1). So abab = 1. So bab = a.

We just proved that all conjugates of a equal a. Since every non-identity element of G is by assumption a conjugate of a, we're done.

So what am I missing?
