My best friend somehow always ends up paying for herself. She is broke (a poor Walmart employee saving up for college). She's had to end several relationships b/c they guy kept taking her to restaurants & she finally couldn't afford it anymore.

How did it become common for the woman to pay? I have asked all my guy friends & they all think if a guy never pays for the girl, you are just two friends hanging out & it isn't a date. I know I'd feel quite comfortable explaining that I'd rather go out Tues b/c I like to have my date nights on Fri/Sat. I'd also discuss w/ a guy friend restaurant choices & suggesting much cheaper alternatives.

Women's lib people say you should offer to split it. Being from the south, the guys would blow you off & that would be it. They would pay. But on a first date, if the guy doesn't pay--is it a date? B/c for years that was my way of determining if he was into me. A casual wanna grab food? He just hungry, I paid for mine. A date he paid. Thoughts anyone?

i havent had my period in over 6 months and my doctor run tests to check my thyroids and it came back neg. Than he gave me provera for 5 days to see if i would start my period but i didnt so now he is giving me premarin for 25 days and provera the last 10? My best friend's dad passed away yesterday. She became really depressed and I don't know what I should do. She had to sell a lot of her things (i.e. her piano, dogs..). She sort of mentioned she was going to move and I'm afraid she'll transfer schools.

I am a college graduate interested in air force ROTC while I'm in grad school and then becoming a geologist in the air force when i serve. I was reading the job description and it sounds like something i want to do (lots of field work and research). I know these descriptions can sometimes be misleading does anyone know a geologist working for the AF if so what do they do?? Is it really just a lame office job?? Do they work with NASA or USGS at all?? Where and what kind of research do they do??

Why is it always assumed that the mother of a half filipino/ half white child (or whatever race) is a Filipina? My father is filipino and my mother is white. Many times a filipino person will be talking to me and ask, "from which part of the Philippines does your mother come from?" And they almost seemed shocked to hear my mother is a white woman from the US. Are filipino men incapable of being with a non-filipina woman? Is that such a impossiblity?
