It is estimated that there are around 12,000 prisoners in UK jails. The total cost per year to keep ONE prisoner in jail, could be as high as £49,220. Figures from the Centre for Criminal and Justice Studies, which includes the cost of dependent families, even if you discount dependents, the figure is £37,500.
The obvious question to you, UK taxpayers, as it`s your money not the Governments, is WHY?
Can you think of any good reasons why we do not deport non-UK citizens when found guilty of a crime?
Surely non-UK citizens are not our problem are they?
