It is estimated that there are around 12,000 prisoners in UK jails. The total cost per year to keep ONE prisoner in jail, could be as high as £49,220. Figures from the Centre for Criminal and Justice Studies, which includes the cost of dependent families, even if you discount dependents, the figure is £37,500.
The obvious question to you, UK taxpayers, as it`s your money not the Governments, is WHY?
Can you think of any good reasons why we do not deport non-UK citizens when found guilty of a crime?
Surely non-UK citizens are not our problem are they?

We do deport them, in most cases. The only time they EVER get to stay is if they'd face torture or death by being sent back to wherever it is they came from. Perhaps this is where your 12 thousand comes from. Either that, or the country where we were going to send them wouldn't take them back.

So to answer your question - no, they're not our problem, yes they should be sent back if at all possible (unless they were going to be tortured or killed, then I'm not so sure)

If people (foreigners) commit a crime in this country then they should be punished in this country.

Having served their sentence they should then be deported.

If you just deport someone for committing a crime, where's the punishment? It's just a free ride home.

Come to the UK on holiday, pay for a one way trip, they'll feed you for a few days, then send you home free. Just go shoplifting when you want to go home.

If the only punishment was deportation. Why would criminals from other countries not come here to commit their crimes.
Not a good idea.
