Why do many of them not purge originally pagan legends from the Bible, e.g. the Babylonia flood myth, Bacchus turning the water into wine, or the death and resurrection of Osiris?
Is there any difference between believing in Vishnu and Shiva on the one hand, and believing in Abraham/ Saturn or Enoch/Hermes on the other?

[To be fair, I know that many Christians DO recognise the pagan origins of much of the Bible, which is only natural, as all religions are influenced by surrounding cultures.]

I've got my grampa's old camera, Kiev 2a, made in the 1940's and i was wondering if any of u could lead me to a book that would help me figure out how the thing works and change its film and all that informational stuff. not a specific manual for that camera but like an instructional book that can help with how to deal with them, u know what i mean? I bought 4 fish from Petsmart about a month ago- 1 male and 3 females. My male died on Saturday (I called Petsmart, he suspects it was fin rot) , but i noticed that one of my Silvers is pregnant. I've read some of the articles on here and I was thinking of buying a breeding tank, but i was just wondering,I know male fish eat the fry, but do Female fish eat them too? Would a breeding tank be necissary in this case?

Once again, "new light" has been received from the Watchtower Society.

Jehovah's Witnesses, who claim to be God's channel used to teach that only 144,000 would go to heaven and that those people were chosen by the year 1935. The rest of us would live on a paradise earth. Now they are dispensing with the 1935 teaching and are saying that ANYONE can now have the heavenly hope. They are also tossing their 1914 doctrine by claiming the "generation of 1914" is not literal but is a representation of those who have the heavenly hope.


I grew up being taught that the "generation of 1914 will not pass away". Meaning Armageddon would come before people who were aware of the events of 1914 would die.

The year is now 2007. Armageddon hasn't occurred. The Watchtower keeps changing it's doctrine because they know they are wrong. They are covering their butts. They are nothing but false prophets. (Deut. 18:22)

So, why do you Jehovah's Witnesses keep following a false prophet?

A man was sitting at a table in the back of the bar with a friend.

He walked up to the bartender and bet him $50 that he could lick his ear.

Now the bartender knew this guy had been drinking quite a bit with his friend and was probably drunk but he decided he could use the fifty bucks so he told the man it was a deal.

The man reached around and pulled his ear lobe to his mouth and licked it. Now the bartender was awed. He handed the man $50 and asked how he did that.

The man said "I have a rubber ear" he ordered another beer and went back to his table.

About a half hour later the man came back up to the bar and said "Hey bartender, I bet you $50 I can lick my eye."

The bartender said, "ok you're on" So the man pulled his eye out and licked it and put it back in. The bartender was stunned and demanded to know how the man did it.

The man replied "I have a glass eye."

The bartender said fair is fair, here's you fifty bucks."

About an hour later the same man came up to the bar and said to the bartender, "Hey bartender, I bet you $200 that you can put a shot glass at one end of the bar and i can stand at the other end of the bar and p-i-s-s into that shot glass without getting a single drop on your bar."

Now by this time the bartender knew that the man was drunk and saw an opportunity to get his money back and some, so he agreed. He placed the shot glass at the end of the bar.

The man stood at the other end of the bar and pissed all over the bar.....not a single drop made it to the shot glass.

The bartender was wiping up the mess laughing his butt off. He asked the man "Now, why did you do that when you were up $100."

The drunk man smiled pointed at the table in the back and said "do you see that man over there?"

The bartender said "Yes"

"Well I bet him $1,000 that I could p-i-s-s all over your bar and you would clean it up with a smile!"

I do not understand how someone can not accept Jesus.

Look at how complex the world is. How can life just form from NOTHING? It is ridiculous that this all happened "just cause". "Just cause"?

This is why I am a Christian. It is the religion that makes the most sense. Jesus has a plan for me. If I accept Him into my heart as my savior, I may avoid Hell. My sins and all the sin of everyone who believes in Jesus shall be wiped clean.

know that he is a good man, but he has made bad choices in the past as far as women are concerned, I will be wife # 2..But he has had a few engagements between the ex-wife and me..Which makes me wonder now, if its HIM or that he really has poor judgment..Also which makes this worse, is that his 8 year old son, is partial to my son, they have bonded, as have we..I love the kid like he was my own flesh and blood, so I am confused on what to do? Do I marry him with these doubts, or end the relationship, which will hurt everyone, including the kids, and I don't want that...but I dont want to be exwife #2....I do love him, but is that enough ?

I'm wanting to take a few 1 hour classes @ a community college (cheap). Then I'd like to transfer them to my uni. Is it common for a school to not accept credits? Don't they usually just give you unclassified credits that work as electives?

I posted a question earlier and someone hit the nail on the head. I am turned off by some of my husband's personality traits. I feel so bad in saying that but it's true. We are like night and day in the personality department. Where do I start?

He is very non-chalant and care-free. If it doesn't affect him directly he doesn't care, but it usually affects me. For example, we may have a bill that's due and limited funds left. He'll throw a fit because we have to pay bills and there's not enough money to eat out with or mess off. I have to come up with creative ways to get around that to make him happy, therefore I do all the worrying.

He is a mama's boy to the heart. His parents live an hour away and he has to see them regularly or he gets cranky. We go there all the time and one day he asked if I wanted to go. I agreed but wanted to know if it would turn into an overnight trip (as usual) or if we'd be coming back. That's all I asked. He then told me I didn't have to go.

The bread gets burned and the cheese doen't melt all the way. And the sandwich gets very very flattened!

The butter is right out of the fridge, and so is the cheese.
