Hey B,

I've shot lots of guns. I had great teachers - mostly my husband. A good teacher will show you how to stand and how to hold the gun, how to brace yourself and how to pull the trigger. A good teacher makes all the difference in the world when it comes to a new shooter enjoying his or her first time out or whether they absolutely hate guns, had no fun, and never want to touch another gun as long as they live.

Guns are good - they have provided our forefathers with a means to get food and to protect themselves. If it were not for guns, America might be spelled Amerika (not that it WON'T be spelled that way sometime in the future!). Without guns we might still be subjects of a foreign power. Without guns (legally obtained, of course) law-abiding citizens might be victimized constantly in their own homes because thugs and crooks (who will get guns regardless of the legality) know that they would not be stopped by a private citizen using a firearm to protect tehmselves in their home (i.e. Australia).

I would recommend that everyone who is mentally competent and able to legally purchase and own a firearm DO SO. Not only to protect therir own well-being, but to preserve the heritage and freedoms that our fathers, and grandparents and our brothers, cousins, husbands, uncles and friends have ad continue to fight for.

God bless America and God bless our troops!
I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!!!

p.s. I have never been knocked on my butt by a gun - not even by the 50 caliber OR sweet, sweet 12 gauge shotgun (my personal favorite - YEAH BABY!!!!) - And I'm a GIRL!!! wooooohooooo!!!!

Yeah, I like guns! Only once... my Uncle handed me what turned out to be a 30.06 ! I was nine or ten years old...funny funny man.... I think the only reason it didn't break my shoulder is because he'd taught me how to snug it! grrrr.
I learned to shoot with a .22 rifle when I was about 7. The family that lived next door to us were police officers... 3 of them.
The dad taught me to shoot his .38 for my 11th birthday. (It's STILL my favorite!) My Dad had every gun known to man, I think....

It came in handy when we were stationed in Italy... not much money, and not a lot to do without it... they had a firing range... and competitions... I got to be pretty good. No Annie Oakley, but not too bad. It's a lot of fun. Only thing I ever learned that they don't teach you in basic instuction: Point and shoot (hand guns). The bullet WILL go where you point! I have much better luck with that method than trying to "sight" with a hand gun!
Oh! Just so you know... I am a killer with a squirt-pistol! heh heh... }:>

**For "your mom ...." -Mossberg! Wonderful shotgun! I agree with you... for protection, a shotgun is fabulous! No way to miss... !
