An Irishman an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar. The view was
fantastic, the beer excellent, the food exceptional. Y'ken," said the
Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back home. Why in Glasgow there's a
wee bar called McTavish's. Now, the landlord there goes out of his way
for the locals so much that when you buy 4 drinks he will buy the 5th
drink for you."

"Well," said the Englishman, "At my local, the Red Lion, the barman
there will buy you your 3rd drink after you buy the first 2."

"Ahhh, that's nothin," said the Irishman. "Back home in Dublin, there's
Ryan's Bar. Now the moment you set foot in the place they'll buy you a
drink, then another, all the drinks you like. Then when you've had
enough drinks they'll take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All
on the
house!"

The Englishman and Scotsman immediately pour scorn on the Irishman's
claims.

But, the Irishman swears every word is true.

"Well," said the Englishman, "Did this actually happen to you?"

"Not me myself, personally, no," said the Irishman. "But it did happen
to me sister."

I have 3 small children, I am in the middle of a move across the country by myself my husband is deployed unfortunatly and I go to school full time (working on my masters)so to say the least I am a little stressed. I rarely drink (twice a year MAYBE)and if I do its maybe a small cup or 1 beer, if that, I want to take a shot of liquor which I know will help my stress tonight and calm me, but I feel bad....why?...I know realisticly that I am not neglecting my kids (they are in bed) but the last few days have been soooo stressful and I have absolutely no friends to confidentially confide in......no i wont take medication or do any drugs... so please dont recommend that.

Bible-fundies are so against good works. would you want to be stuck with a Bible-fundie when you get into trouble? I have to say it's not a good idea. it could cause you your life.

I'm making a yearly memorial video for a rabbit forum I'm on, and I'm looking for a good song to put it to. A slow beat would be nice, for as much as I love punk rock, it just wouldn't fit here.

It's put to Pachelbel's Canon in D right now, but I'm thinking of switching to something along the lines of Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen, or...?

Thankies! :)

On page 107 of Science and Religion by Edward Grant, it states that Clement of Alexandria believed that philosophy and Christianity went hand in hand; due to the fact that Greek philosophers “drew their ideas and inspiration from the Old Testament.” Then it also goes on to say that Clement thought that we can’t help but to philosophize because “if we are not to philosophize, what then? (For no none can condemn a thing without knowing it): the consequence, even it that case, is that we must philosophize. So if religion never came about where do you think that the philosophers would get their “ideas and inspiration” from?

According to the Church of England, that is.

So, according to this Bishop, "I Vow to Thee, My country" is heretical and racist, a symbol of Nazism.

According to the Bishop, the second verse is alright, but the first verse is.

"My country, right or wrong is not an appropriate sentiment for Christians to uphold," he said.

I'll print the first verse.

"I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice."

It was written to remember the fallen Allied soldiers in the First World War.

Did that verse seem racist to you?

I would rather be labelled a Nazi than stoop to such disgusting levels of "multiculturalism".
