I know that the derivative of a function represents the slope of the function at specific points. So I suppose I was wondering what, if any, information can be gained about the original function by looking at the second (or greater) derivative. Or, if the second derivative doesn't provide any insights into the original function, does knowing the slope of the slope of the function tell you anything?

This isn't for class or anything; we were doing higher derivatives in class, and I was just wondering if there was any point/reason for them.

Does anyone know of any experiments that a highschooler can do that involves mice?

Our family pet is a 3 yr old siamese cat, she is spayed and has always been really sucky and loving. Recently she has been very agressive. We are smokers, and she started attacing us when we were smoking. So we stopped smoking around her. Now she has started just randomly attacking my father, mother and myself. When she attacks, she flattens her ears back, all of her hair puffs up, her eyes dialate to pure black and hisses at us before she leaps at us. Is there any reason all of a sudden she would start this? I was reading about stress on cats, but nothing has been happening recently in our home that would cause that. Is there anything we can do? We're considering putting her down if we cant figure this out, and it breaks my heart to think that we might have to do that. HELP!!

My daughter is engaged, we made arrangements to meet her intendeds parents...just a nice quiet sit down dinner party at home..our married children their spouses, and a few close family and friends..everyone arrived on time we chit-chatted over drinks..I noticed the boys Mother was missing, thinking she may have stepped into the powder room..I went to the kitchen to check on the cateriers..when what to my surprise..she was in their DIRECTING THEM...adding salt to the dishes...dismissing our heirloom china and silver for PAPERPLATES!!..critiicizing the wait staff..causing our caterier to threaten to leave..
I quietly guided the MOTHER out of the kitchen so the catiers could get on with dinner..when the MOTHER went into a fury, screatching at the top of her lungs and stormed out..my daughter spent the night in tears, and the mother is refussing to attend any of the wedding parties or showers..
How could I have handled this diffrently...
Like I said Im so angry I could spit

My son, who is a whiz at computers, came across a song on the internet that apparently he and his highschool GF had as "their song". Apparently its a pretty sappy love song.

He decided to send it to this person, they are still in touch but not romantically anymore, and wrote "still love ya babe" as a message.

He then "accidentally" sent it to his soon to be exe wife. She got it and as she told me "her heart stopped, she started to cry and she's thinking oh my God you still love me !" Because she doesnt want the divorce, which is another long story -

She phones him crying "Oh my God I love you too, you remembered my birthday! You still love me !" She immediately thinks this is a step towards reconciliation.

Of couse, who wouldnt? The poor girl, she phoned me crying her eyes out.

He told me he has never felt worse in his life when he realized what he had done.

Could it be his sub conscience & he's not listening? Just an cruel accident? Fate stepping in?

this is a question for egyptians,we complain about racism and i find many ppl practice a racist act in a way or another..
honestly,haven't you seen ppl really staring at "dark skinned ppl" in the underground?do you notice that even in the movies,they don't get roles except a waiter,a servant,a guard(bawwab)..etc?

Here's the ones I can think of:

1) We all convert to Islam. Of course the muslims kill each other because they don't all believe exactly alike, so that probably wouldn't work.

2) Just hope they'll change, and won't kill us. Of course they've always killed infidels, so that might not work.

3) Kill them first.

4) Try to show them some of the good life, and maybe some or most of them will stop being so radical. That's what we're doing, trying to westernize Iraq.

Are there any others? Which do you prefer and why?
