I had all my four (4) wisdom teeth removed that way, I would recommend it to anyone. The gas helps you relax the novocaine numbs it all up. I personally think that it is better than going under completely, they can't pull and stretch as much as they would be able to when you are asleep, It is always gonna be a bit tough the first two days or so after having wisdom teeth out, I would suggest to apply lots of ice (twenty minutes on twenty minutes off) for the first four hours or so and take some painkillers before the injections wear off. Keep up with them too every 4 or 6 hours whatever is allowed. That way you keep on top of it. And if you are worried about the noises during the procedure, cause you know there will be noises, just take your MP3 or discman - again that is what I did and it was good. The whole surgery only took 1 hour for me and mine were pretty bad and at least afterwards you won't feel like crap from the general anasethesia. Hope this Helps. I am also a Dental Assistant for 12 years. Good Luck!

I had all wisdom teeth removed at the same visit. At that time the only pain prevention or numbing was novacaine. It was one of the most horrible dental procedure that I have endured. If you have the opportunity to have an alternative other than novacaine, I would definitely choose the gas or somtimes an oral surgeon will use general anesthesia(going under). Mine were removed like I mentioned quite a long time ago.

I have had alot of dental work due to bad teeth (not by fault but by family history) Laughing gas I don't find works well and novacaine i need about 5 shoots for it to work. Anyhoo i got knocked out and It only took 20 mins to get 4 wisdom teeth out but it seems like forever when you wake up. I wouldnt want to be awake during that but thats just me. Afterwards you dont feel any pain, but you are gunna be very groggy. And don't try and stand up real quick like i did I almost fell over. The first 3 days after I looked like a chipmonk and only ate soup and ice cream because it is painful to try and eat solids. And also don't smoke if you are a smoker and don't drink out of a straw. You could get dry socket, a very painful infection. Best of luck :) Oh and take the pain meds they give you!! Don't wait until meds wear off becuz you will be in pain!

I was put under because of how messes up my wisdom teeth where. But I've heard that its nice to get a couple shots, some gas and get it taken care of.
But lemme tell you. IT SUCKED afterwords. I was down for like three days because I was in constant pain whenever I was awake. :(
Good luck. Love vikaden (SP) land.

My experience with this went very well and I was super nervous! There is nothing to be nervous about really. He will have your teeth out before you even know what he is doing. You won't feel a thing! Good luck!

I only had Novocaine (may have been Lanacaine). I didn't get the gas. I was fully conscious for all of it and it really wasn't that bad at all. I didn't feel any pain, only pressure.

I had that and was terrified. It was a horrible experience, but the Dr was a jack@ss. He had no patients for me and was downright brutal. Hope you do better than me.
