Just because someone needs $20 to score some crack doesn't give you the right to buy a STOLEN phone off them. As soon as the REAL owner (NOT the kid) found it missing, they would have it DISCONNECTED to avoid having it used (and charged) against their wishes...
Next time you see the crackhead, demand your money back - or rat him out to the cops ;););)

I know this is old...but bump I didn't even read the original post it started right at the comments and the amount of people that responded with right answer but so ignorant to the belief that cops will track a stolen phone and retrieve it for u....the dude in England right cops don't track a cellphone so u can get it back...they track people who threat in cops or others. King pins. Etc you can get the phone to work agian. If u ever buy a phone o and people answer the question as if u knew it was stolen when you purchased it. No one dumb enough to buy a stolen phones. Ppl that sell stolen items for drugs not gonna say its stolen. Addicts r actually smart their con artist. So I don't blame u call provider provide imei tell them u bought it, it work then stop customer service, cause u don't know if phone just broke. I wonder if those people that said next don't buy a stolen phone really don't know the world we live in

i dont know where ur from but in england they cant track the phone. when a mobile is stolen the owner can ring the service provider and they can block the phone so it cant be used by anyone but over here they arnt tracked. you have a useless phone but you wont get caught with a stolen phone.

Yea they can track it... you're an idiot for buying a stolen phone. I had my phone stolen last summer because of some jackass. You are among the pathetic portion of our population. Go get a job and buy things like normal people.

You learned a lesson, never buy anything that was stolen, bad karma! You bought it. Never try to get something for nothing.

If reported stolen when you try to reactivate it they may keep it. Find that kid and get your money back.
