I want to study one year in Japan through an exchange program. How do I convince my mom to let me go?

She suggested it once, so I know she has thought about it..

How do I approach her and ask her if it's okay with her?

One of the impediments she would put is the price of 8000 dollars (I'm in Mexico), but the school I'm going to in two years is much more expensive than that anyway, So I can tell her that..

Well, any Ideas? I've started gathering info from the net, I am thinking of printing it for her or just be ready for any question she asks.

Oh, and my Dad is okay with it.

My elementary school age kids are active, love to read books, just play in the backyard, do art stuff, bikes, toys, watch TV.
Almost all their friends have the latest video games(incl WII..), my kids know of these, have played with them at playdates, but have never asked for them.

My husband and I are tempted to buy these when we see them at a good price or just plain "hey here's a hard to find game system, so let's buy it".

Our friends tell us how hard it is to keep kids away from them, and that if our kids are happy with books, toys, backyard play, then enjoy it till it lasts.

There's Xmas, and some birthdays coming up. We'd like to buy the WII. All kids but ours seem to have in our/their circle of friends.

Would you buy video games for your kid ? or wait till they ask and ask ? is it really hard to restrict how long they play?
our kids are reasonably well-behaved and very good at school.

Condi: Kofi.
George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.
(Condi picks up the phone.)

My daughter is invited to another little girl's b'day party. They have been in class together and Sunday School together. They like each other but are not close friends. How much is the going rate for b'day cash? Is $10 too little? I feel $20 is too much and I wonder if $15 is too much. We seem to be just entering the stage where they prefer $$ to presents! Your wisdom is appreciated!

According to the transcript, bin Laden says there are two ways to end the war:
"The first is from our side, and it is to continue to escalate the killing and fighting against you."

The second is to do away with the American democratic system of government. "It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations."

He goes on to call Noam Chomsky "among one of the most capable of those from your own side," and mentions global warming and "the Kyoto accord."

He also speaks to recent issues grabbing headlines in the United States, referring to "the reeling of many of you under the burden of interest-related debts, insane taxes and real estate mortgages; global warming and its woes..."

The board of directors for a large company, believing it was time for a shake-up, hires a new CEO. This new boss is determined to rid the company of all slackers, so on a tour of the facilities during his first day, the CEO notices a guy leaning casually against the wall. The room is full of workers and he wants to let them all know he means business, and wasting time on the clock is not acceptable. The CEO walks up to the guy and asks, "And how much money do you make a week?"

A little surprised, the young fellow looks at him and replies, "I make $300.00 a week. Why?"

The CEO reaches into his wallet, hands the guy $1,200 in cash, and screams, "Here's four weeks pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!"

Feeling pretty good about his first firing, the CEO looks around the room and asks, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-off did here aside from standing around?"

With a sheepish grin, one of the other workers mutters, "That guy delivered our pizza."
