My daughter is invited to another little girl's b'day party. They have been in class together and Sunday School together. They like each other but are not close friends. How much is the going rate for b'day cash? Is $10 too little? I feel $20 is too much and I wonder if $15 is too much. We seem to be just entering the stage where they prefer $$ to presents! Your wisdom is appreciated!

Most everyone seems to be on the same page. $10 for a ten year old unless a family member. That is pretty much how I felt.

MissBeans, I know you mean well about buying a gift since they have gone thougth the trouble of arranging a party but this is a child we barely know, we have never socialize with them, the party is at the county park/playground AND I'll bet you don't have children yet becasue once they reach this age they WANT money. I have 5 years old neices and they beg for gift cards. Yes, money is appropriate. It's just a matter of how much. I tend to over give and am working on becomeing debt free and part of that means giving $10 where it is due and not $20 which is my instinct; a wrong one and I know it. That is why I asked.

I've heard the general rule is about a dollar per year unless the child is a very close friend or family member in which case you tack on about 5 extra. So, in this case, 10 seems good.
Another good rule of thumb is to look at if you were to get her a present rather than cash, how much would you spend and do roughly that amount.

I always thought that if you go to the party, you should buy a real present. The host has gone to a lot of trouble, thinking of how to feed and entertain the guests, and it seems lazy not to put that kind of thought into a gift for the guest of honor. If you do feel like cash is the best gift, $10.00 is probably fine for a kid that age.

I give $10 to kids I don't know very well or who don't come to my home often and $15 to those I see regularly and $50 to kids in our family.

Also, it's much easier if you know where they are having the party. If they are having it at chuckie cheese or something, they will be spending $10-$12 on each child, so $10 is acceptable gift. If they are having a big blow out at Club libby lu's it's about $15 to $20 a child. The rule of thumb is spend on the birthday child what the parents are spending per child at the party.

i think of its okay to place the two your names yet extremely why not basically make the occasion her's. Shes basically one as quickly as. That way you apart from could wont be upset once you don't get the birthday interest you was hoping for. (i be attentive to it sounds propose yet probability is not all and sundry is somewhat gonna pay 2 plenty interest to you on account that your infant is the great call of the prepare.) a much better concept is have her occasion and then have fun your birthday on the weekend with acquaintances and kin mutually as some one watches your candy infant! happy Birthday to the the two considered one of you by ability of how! i think of its candy which you got a infant on your twenty first birthday! Congrats on that!

$10.00 if fine if you're giving cash. If you feel it too little, why don't you get her a $15 or $20 gift certificate to a store? Or you can buy an inexpensive present and wrap it up extra pretty.

I put $10. My son is 10. That is appropriate or a blockbuster gift card for $10 or Toys R Us gift card for $10!

I think $10 or $15 is enough, $20 is definitely too much for a birthday. I'd go with $15 since they are good friends!

Look if you buy the present it should at least be about $15 dollars. If not more. A $10 envelope from one kid is an insult.
