here in scotland the big political question is ''independance''.
the country is split into 3 camp's :- 1/3 pro-independance, 1/3 pro status quo (remain part of the UK) & 1/3 undecided.
i was just wondering how you out there feel about it.
do you miss colonial power or remaining part of a larger country (or empire, federation or union) or are you happier that your own country decides it's own law's and way in the world?

I just saw a Q about if destroying religion would stop war.
I want to take this Q a little further and ask if defeating anything that is identified as a main enemy could stop war?

Once it was aristocracy (French revolution) and it stopped neither war nor atrocities.

I think that Mankind´s worst enemy is man/woman´s ego.
You can´t live without it, yet you can´t allow it to take control.
Soon one loses perspective and becomes what one hated the most before getting to power.

Is it possible to LIVE with it? Meaning, is it possible to compute ego into world politics and prevent its tyranny?

Is it possible to build a government with failsafes against the feelings of one individual?

Ex: Hitler, Napoleon, even Bush´s controversy decision about invading Irak (which I neither approve nor disprove in this argument)...

Even if religion and superstition were defeated, it doesn´t mean that common sense would win.
We have to be conscious of that don´t we?

Please elaborate

Why do we have more single mothers than single fathers? It takes two to have unprotected sex. Why are more fathers inactive/absent parents than mothers?

A woman is stopped by the cops for speeding, the officer goes up to her & asks to see her driver's licence,
she hands him her licence;
"Hmm, on your licence it says you wear glasses, I don't see you wearing them, I'm going to give you a ticket."
The lady: " But I have contacts"..
The Officer shouted back: " I don't care who you know lady, you're getting a ticket."

;) !!!

Am I weird? I just think that money brings a lot of unhappiness and I dont want to be part of it. I would love to live in a world of my own where people dont care about money and just want to live a happy life...to care about others...to love others and to laugh and joke. Once money comes into the picture there is so much unhappiness....is it worth it?

I keep seeing folk submitting verse here and asking for opinions. I am loathe to rain on anyone's parade but poetry is an art form and by definition ,this means that good poetry will be rare. Yet on here we continually see the most appalling doggerel being praised. If anyone daubs a canvas with paint, is it Art?
Also, please realise that poetry is ,for the most part, subject to the same rules and conventions as any other form of written English

I know everyone is probably different based on certain factors, but I think this would be the way to go for me, just wondering if anyone has a ballpark figure for this job, thanks.

I can drink caffeine all day in the form of coffee, sweet tea, coke... whatever, yet I don't get the energy or the jitters that everyone else seems to get when they drink half as much as I do. I can wake up, drink a glass of tea, go to work, drink a cup of coffee (or two), go to lunch, drink another glass of tea and I'll still feel sluggish. Am I just immune to caffeine?

The plain truth is they really don't like me much, and I am not crazy about them either---yea we love each other---but on my end its the problem of I poured my lifes blood into raising them and they don't see the revevancy of being respectful or even happy to see me. I'm middle of the road person, no drinking drugs etc. their father and I gave it our best shot and they are all other religions, and quite remote. I guess if I had it to do over again I'd pass, except for one grand kid, whos a charmer.
