Am I weird? I just think that money brings a lot of unhappiness and I dont want to be part of it. I would love to live in a world of my own where people dont care about money and just want to live a happy life...to care about others...to love others and to laugh and joke. Once money comes into the picture there is so much unhappiness....is it worth it?

No...I dont mean that one should not have money to exist on. I mean wealth...money that you dont need for every day living...to pay off the debts etc. What I mean is "extra" money...it seems to bring a lot of unhappiness with it...people wanting more and more and more when they should do with what they already have as long as its sufficient for them to live on without having to worry about where they are getting money for food and shelter.

I didnt say that I did not want to work. I would not be able to sit and do nothing it would drive me crazy. I just think that money spoils everything...people change...people get greedy....people are not satisfied with what they have....its such a pity that they spoil their lives with wanting all the time.

Nope, I am the same way. I see money as a vehicle for continued survival and little else. Not interested in fast cars, big houses, fancy clothes, cool gadgets, or other status symbols. It also helps that there doesn't seem to really be anything out there worth buying anyway.
Back when I was a kid, I would always ask my friends to give me cash for my birthday, and would spend it all on them and have a great time that day. I think that was worth way more than a new DVD player or some other rot they could have gotten me.

I think a lot of us from back in the hippy days felt like this. However, once you've found yourself in the position where you cannot feed yourself, haven't got any shelter, can't do much of anything including ride public transit because of lack-o-money, you alter your thinking. Having enough personal money to keep yourself alive with is important. I know people who routinely give away most of their paycheck but then end up not being able to pay their own rent and bills which puts them into a precarious, risky position--so as much as it would be wonderful to be able to do that, unless you have tons of money, it is not very prudent. There is nowhere in this world where you can live the way you have imagined it. The hippies tried it (and other bohemias before them) with communes and in general it didn't work--someone always wants more creature comforts then others, someone thinks he/she is better than the others so deserves better, babies get born and the parents want safer/better living for their offspring, etc. Even the beasts who do not toil for their subsistence are finding themselves being edged out of habitate, food sources, going extinct even. The best you can do is understand the value of money but not let money be your guiding light, make sure you encourage the free things, do things for free just because it's a good thing to do, etc. Don't let money completely rule your life.

No. I had both sides of it. I gave up the money for more time for myself, my kids, family, friends and just plain living. My ex-husband was a work-aholic with no time for family or friends. He is now a successful business owner and alone. My career hours weren't single-parent friendly, so I chose a job and now only work 7 hours a day for a paycheck to cover the bills and benefits (and only work while the kids are in school). We have enough to cover what we need and the rest of the time is ours for what's important to us and really matters. My kids and I are grateful for the things we have and don't miss the things we don't have anymore. When they really desire something, they earn or achieve it which makes it all the more sweeter. We may not be the richest people in the world, but we are rich in many other ways. Money isn't everything and there is more to life than money. You can't take it with you and the richest person isn't the winner in the end. The things that really matter are priceless. We are a family and we are very happy!

I think you're great for not being sucked into all the greed over money.
Although I agree it brings a lot of unhappiness, it's an unfortunate fact that money IS everything in this world... and as much as I complain about having to work, I wouldn't get any satisfaction out of sitting around doing nothing and having everything handed to me on a silver platter i.e. Paris Hilton
For me though, if I didn't need money to buy food and keep a roof over my head... I'd be happy to live on oxygen, love, friends and family!
=)

If you had no money you would care. Most people who care about money are just trying to have some semblance of comfort.struggling to be able to pay the bills and buy food is only existing. We all need a bit extra for the nicer things in life.If you don't care about money it's probably because you have plenty to have a nice life.If so, your question is meaningless to you and me.

Dear friend
Money is just a form of exchange. Without money it would be something else like cattle, clothes etc. money is not the problem. You need enough money not more. I know what you mean. Many people tghink more money means more happiness. But there is never enough for these people.

It's people like you who make others worry about money. People who don't worry about money chose not to work. They end up on welfare. Welfare is payed for by taxes. People who pay taxes work. Do you see where I'm going here? You cannot live a happy life without money. You will die.

Some people associate money with greed and all that, but money is required to live. You use to to buy food. You use it to buy clothing. You use it to pay the bills that covers the roof of your house. I rather not be poor and you need not be rich. Money won't buy happiness, but it may as well make life easier. You work hard for money and with it, you can have a relaxing life with vacations. Buy gifts for family. And treat yourself by buying a couple of gifts for yourself.

I have had it, lost it, needed it, went without it,worked hard for it and finally found happiness. I don't have credit cards, I live within my means, I can always cut back more, and I never take anything for granted. I am at my best in life now physically, mentally and emotionally. Money is problems, lack of money teaches.

Hi there, I agree with you. (No you are not weird) ; If money did not mean anything to anyone, this would would be a better place to live in. This world reminds me of the song by Simple Plan "Everyone Is Going Crazy".
