So many people like to use bumper-sticker terms like "Lives for oil" and think that's enough to justify an argument.

Like it or not, at our point in history oil is the lifeblood of not only our country, but the world. Without it we would not be "third-world", but "primitive world." It keeps us alive; it is a factor in our very existence. It might seem easy to say you can't trade a life for a barrel of oil, but without that oil, many more people would not only die, but our country would collapse.

My fiance and I have been engaged since February 23. In March, we went to a wedding chapel to have our wedding priced. It ended up being almost $2800. A lot of that stuff could be taken off cause I don't have to have it. Since at the time I thought my parents were going to pay (it is tradition afterall), we discussed it with them. My mother said it was too much money to spend and tried talking us into having it at a church they had only been going to for a month or two. She said they would pay for the catering if we did it that way (their way).

My fiance knew I didn't want it that way. He also was all for doing the chapel thing since all the planning was taken care of. I didn't want to have it at their church. I'd never even been there. He started working more hours to help pay for it. Then my mom said to tell him not to, that it was their place.

Since then, every idea we've come up with has been shot down for whatever reason. My mom is aggrivated that we keep changing it.

While reading several answers to some of my earlier questions I've noticed that a number of Christians & non-Christians alike use the terminology, 'true christian.' So, in light of the darkness... what is a "true" christian?

If you reference scripture, do so as a 'reference' to make your point. Do not answer the question using only a scripture.

This is just some weird thing that I just thought of. If you get an x-ray while you're wearing a tampon.....will the tampon show on the x-ray?! I don't really need an answer, I just wanna see what everyone else thought about it!

The patient says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." "Then don't do that!"

Getting on a plane, I told the ticket lady, "Send one of my bags to New York, send one to Los Angeles, and send one to Miami." She said, "We can't do that!" I told her, "You did it last week!"

I was playing golf. I swung, missed the ball, and got a big chunk of dirt. I swung again, missed the ball, and got another big chunk of dirt. Just then, 2 ants climbed on the ball saying, "Let's get up here before we get killed!"

I just got back from a pleasure trip. I took my mother-in-law to the airport

It's been my observation that the less regulated a capitalist economy, the more it tends to concentrate more and more wealth into fewer and fewer hands. If you picture some kind of enterprise that results in a net gain for someone, then picture this person investing his profit in another enterprise it would seem to me that capital is being concentrated. This scenario being repeated and repeated, the result can only be the establishment of an aristocracy and a proletariat. Of course, it won't be a a straight line, in some cases the business will fail and the investors capital will be scattered. But it will then start collecting again. It seems analogous to the concept of entropy increase. Doesn't this seem to argue for some sort of redistribution of wealth?
I suppose I'd better point out that I am well aware of the fact that a profit motive is important. If a business fails, then the employees have lost a job. But the investor has lost perhaps his "job" plus X dollars. (p
