The New Encyclopædia Britannica says: “Neither the word Trinity, nor the explicit doctrine as such, appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Old Testament: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord’ (Deut. 6:4). . . . The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies. . . . By the end of the 4th century . . . the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever since.”—(1976), Micropædia, Vol. X, p. 126.
The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299.
In The Encyclopedia Americana we read: “Christianity derived from Judaism and Judaism was strictly Unitarian [believing that God is one person]. The road which led from Jerusalem to Nicea was scarcely a straight one. Fourth century Trinitarianism did not reflect accurately early Christian teaching regarding the nature of God; it was, on the contrary, a deviation from this teaching.”—(1956), Vol. XXVII, p. 294L.
According to the Nouveau Dictionnaire Universel, “The Platonic trinity, itself merely a rearrangement of older trinities dating back to earlier peoples, appears to be the rational philosophic trinity of attributes that gave birth to the three hypostases or divine persons taught by the Christian churches. . . . This Greek philosopher’s [Plato, fourth century B.C.E.] conception of the divine trinity . . . can be found in all the ancient [pagan] religions.”—(Paris, 1865-1870), edited by M. Lachâtre, Vol. 2, p. 1467.
John L. McKenzie, S.J., in his Dictionary of the Bible, says: “The trinity of persons within the unity of nature is defined in terms of ‘person’ and ‘nature’ which are G[ree]k philosophical terms; actually the terms do not appear in the Bible. The trinitarian definitions arose as the result of long controversies in which these terms and others such as ‘essence’ and ‘substance’ were erroneously applied to God by some theologians.”—(New York, 1965), p. 899.

I don't know what to major in. I'm an artsy fartsy type of person. I dislike sciences to an extent and i CANT STAND math at all. I love love love love reading/learning/writing about religions, beliefs, cultures and morals. I was thinking about becoming a professor one day and maybe a theologist. Philosophy is also very intriguing to me and i wouldn't mind studying that area for awhile.

I have a passion for learning about things like that, but i also have a creative mind and I'm good with creating all sort of visually aesthetic things. I don't know whether to pursue a knowledgeable career(teaching) or something more creative and less time consuming (stage design for films of w/e else is out there)

I'm 17 right now in my sophomore year at a junior college. I got a jump start and by the time i graduate highschool i'll be ready to transfer and a Junior to a 4 year university. I'm running out of time to decide! I also wouldn't spending time to get a PhD. since i'm already ahead. Help Me!

Well, a few of my friends & their families asked me to go to this huge park on Independence Day to have a picnic/BBQ and to watch fireworks...The thing is, every year, my family and I have an ordinary BBQ with barely any fireworks (it's illegal in my state, helicopters actually fly over the houses to make sure that we're not lighting them up). Our celebration is nothing THAT special. But then after we eat, we just go inside, and after that, it gets really boring... I don't know which to choose. My parents don't care. The thing is, I've heard that sometimes, people shoot guns and stuff just for fun on that day (to liven up the party I guess). So that's kind of dangerous. I also don't want to leave my dog, because she's really afraid of fireworks, she'd whine and hide due to her fear of them. What would you do? Should I just go with my friends and just forget about my dog & our (boring) family tradition? Or should I just have the ORDINARY BBQ w/ my family?

Does anyone know how to do this

A circuit having a resistance of 12 ohm, an indutance of 96mH and a capacitance of 52mF in series, is connected across a 220V, 50Hz supply. Calculate the following:

Total Impedance

current flowing through the circuit

the voltage across each component

the phase difference between the current and the supply voltage

The power factor of the circuit

I met a guy last Saturday night where we hit it off quite well. He called on Monday and said he would like to get together again this coming Saturday. I thought I would have heard from him again by now, with it being Thursday night. Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon. When first dating, on average, how often will a guy be calling before he sees you again? Before we met, we chatted almost every night, does this mean he's not all that interested? Should I just call him Friday or do I just wait to see if he calls? I don't want to seem too needy or desperate or too pushy, but I just want to know what's up for Saturday. What should I do? And if a guy wouldn't be interested in seeing you again, why would he make the initiative and call asking you out on a second date? Did he maybe change his mind, or playing games? I'm confused- any help would help.

I'm shopping around for a notebook computer and am constantly seeing the nVIDIA logo followed by a series of numbers, and an description declaring that it is the latest and greatest in 3D rendering. About an hour ago, I even saw the nVIDIA quadro... no numbers following it all!

I am not an intense gamer, but I do love to play my share. I especially am thinking of something like WoW or really any MMO, and possibly some FPS games. Can someone explain to me the number system behind nVIDIA and give me some direction as to which are good, better, and best?

This is an excerpt from an interview with Chris Benoit's attorney about the 2003 divorce papers Nancy filed. I found it on channel 11 in Atlanta.

In the court documents Nancy Benoit said that Chris "lost his temper and threatened to strike (her) and cause extensive damage to the home and personal belongings of the parties, including furniture and furnishings."

Doesn't sound like a calm, mild-mannered person does it? What are your thoughts about this?
