I don't know what to major in. I'm an artsy fartsy type of person. I dislike sciences to an extent and i CANT STAND math at all. I love love love love reading/learning/writing about religions, beliefs, cultures and morals. I was thinking about becoming a professor one day and maybe a theologist. Philosophy is also very intriguing to me and i wouldn't mind studying that area for awhile.

I have a passion for learning about things like that, but i also have a creative mind and I'm good with creating all sort of visually aesthetic things. I don't know whether to pursue a knowledgeable career(teaching) or something more creative and less time consuming (stage design for films of w/e else is out there)

I'm 17 right now in my sophomore year at a junior college. I got a jump start and by the time i graduate highschool i'll be ready to transfer and a Junior to a 4 year university. I'm running out of time to decide! I also wouldn't spending time to get a PhD. since i'm already ahead. Help Me!

I would look into pursuing a career within philosophy. College professors make around $80K and you could use your creativity to help facilitate the learning experience of your students by presenting new ways to discuss the material. What would be a more meaningful life, working on films or shaping our youth? It is for you to decide.

It is great that you are interested in so many things, but I think the problem with your having rushed your education so far is that you are almost halfway through and are nowhere near ready to decide what you want to do. The advantage to doing things at a normal pace is that you have time to discover your interests.

You may end up falling into a field if you find a mentor. If I were you, I would look for a 4-year college with a theology and philosophy department (pick one for your application, but you can always switch when you get there), take one class in each, and decide which I felt more comfortable with. It may be that you find the faculty more welcoming in one than the other or you might find the approach they take in one of these fields more appealing. I'm ignoring the art part, because while it is a wonderful thing to do, you don't seem to focus on that quite as much, and I get the feeling you might do well with that as a hobby, rather than a career.

I don't know what you mean when you say that you won't be spending time to get a Ph.D; expect it to take at least 4 years (and very possibly longer) beyond the bachelor's. Don't rush so much. I don't see any advantage to finishing college way early. You would be better off getting a second major, because other than in the sciences, the youngest person I've heard of getting a Ph.D. was 25, and it is hard being taken very seriously at that age (more by your colleagues than by your students).

Dear Andy,

Hope you will be fine there. I am Aamir, Lawyer by profession and practicing law in Pakistan. I'm 23. After reading and understanding your Question, I decided to give you a Peice of Advise.
Dear, as you have mentioned that reading and learning is your passion and you want to become a Professor in future. I recommend you to continue your studies in "Comparative Religion" and do your Ph.d in Comparative Religion and Philosophy. That will be good for you as you have interest in Religion Studies. So, study World Religions comparatively.
It will provide you an inner satisfaction and enhance your personality.

Regards,
AAMIR

^^LOL that is exactly like me, especially the last part

why don't you go to a really strong liberal arts college, you can enter undecided and just experiemce all different subjects - then you'll be able to decide what you really like. =)

I'm 17 and I'm exactly like you.I hate Maths and Sciences.I only care about reading, writing and things to do with journalism and stuffs like that. However,I found a lot of great stuffs about Nursing.I'm a nursing student lol.Anyway, nursing is awesome.I don't say that you should go into it but it should be a consideration. It's a well-respected career, the pay is satisfactory, and you could travel with at least a bachelor. You could go into education with masters or PhD.
