Vice President Dick Cheney has asserted his office is not a part of the executive branch of the U.S. government, and therefore not bound by a presidential order governing the protection of classified information by government agencies, according to a new letter from Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., to Cheney.

Bill Leonard, head of the government's Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), told Waxman's staff that Cheney's office has refused to provide his staff with details regarding classified documents or submit to a routine inspection as required by presidential order, according to Waxman.

In pointed letters released today by Waxman, ISOO's Leonard twice questioned Cheney's office on its assertion it was exempt from the rules. He received no reply, but the vice president later tried to get rid of Leonard's office entirely, according to Waxman.

I am getting confused about the interphase stage in cell cycle. I read that chromosome is a single double helix of dna, which is like 1 chromatid, right? ..but then , I read that a chromosome have 2 chromatids..so which one is it? 1 or 2? Is it still called chromosome with just 1 chromatid? Am I missing something here? I just don't get this interphase stuff. I understand what is happening in the other stages, but I am not clear about the chromosome part in interphase. Sorry, I am a math major, but taking this class for the science requirement. If you can, please help. Thank you

Since the US takes credit for developing the Internet, does that also make them liable for the proliferation of text-based culture? In that case, can I sue them for the money it would cost to re-educate or properly educate people who are losing or completely lack grammar, spelling, English structure and communication skills? Since they do little to prevent or correct it, should they not be held liable for a generation of illiterate or semi-literate children?
Translation for kids: no flamz plz k >:P

I have a friend who is 18 years old who dropped out because people called her fat && she got interested in this boy so she spent all her time when she should of been at school with him. She was supposed to get a GED but she never got around to it. Her boyfriend dumped her and moved so she said she would go back to school. Well the school she chose to go back to is an alternative to high school which teaches stuff at a lower level then normal high schools and she had to attend a meeting last week to get back into the school. She chose to skip the meeting to hang out with a friend. She wants to go to college to become a cosmetologist but I'm afraid she won't get past high school because right now shes 18 (19 in January) in 10th grade and is showing no interest in making something out of herself and more of an interest in drugs and clubbing, so my question is how should I make her care more about her education?

what do you think? I am 15 and an Agnostic. fyi, agnostics are those who believe that its impossible for us to know about god, the future and stuff. They beleive god is there, but they dont believe that its jesus, ram, or mohd...
My family is Hindu. I talked about me being an agnostic, she didnt deny it, but she said " do what u want but believe me, one day, god will get back at you, in a very bad way"
So, are only believers good people in your opinion?

I personally don't think Christians have pure love...

1.Christians in general want a ticket to heaven and fear of dropping to hell...So there is a motive here...This is not Pure love.

2.When Christians do go to heaven...I can't imagine if they have any feelings for those dwelling in Hell..(if it happens anyway)..Just imagine yourself in heaven and billions and billions of other people in hell .

3.Christians generally enjoy their beef steak but that steak comes from a cow who died horribly being slaughtered at the slaughtered house...Try putting these Christians to see those horrific events, hear the cow moaning in pain...than we will see many becoming vegetarian because they could be affected by compassion, anyway general Christians don't have compassion for animals because they don't know if animals have souls ??

4.When a Buddist helps a person he does it without any motive..Just pure goodness, but when a Christian helps.he does it with a motive which is converting the innocent.

I read the Skeptic's Bible. It was Funny how they asked the same questions I did before I came to faith in Christ. I studied out the language that the scripture was written in. I mean I read it in the Hebrew, Greek, Semitic and Aramic. I took a good look at the History and the Evidence there of. It seem that the person who wrote this skeptic's Bible did not do the same. I feel every has the right to thier own opinion, but I wish some poeple would be more open to looking at why people believe as they do. Some people have a good reasons for being a Christian, or Atheist. Know the facts before you attack them. I was not saved until I was 27. I have seen the Atheist Facts all my life. My brother and I square off over this all the time. He is an Atheist. So I see every new little thing that comes along. I put it through the test and most of the time With in a little research I find it's wrong. I have put the scripture through this same test but have found it to be correct.

I really like the lyrics to 'Knocking on Heaven's door' by Guns N Roses except I'm not sure what it's talking about.
Does anyone know?
Just because Guns N Roses sing it everyone says it's talking about drugs and I know it isn't because the song was originally composed and sung by Bob Dylan.

I did a research project a few weeks ago and I went to a Mercedes dealer. I asked how a Mercedes would compare with a Lexus. The saleslady told me that Mercedes is more prestigious and that it is the safest car in the world. She says a Lexus is just a Toyota. I knew she was telling me all kinds of lies. I said that even a Toyota Camry has a five star crash safety rating and that the E and C-Class only recieved a four star crash safety rating (according to National Highway Traffic Safety Admin). She says that you couldn't compare a Camry with a Mercedes. Then I asked, "Well, wouldn't you expect a Mercedes that costs 3 times as much to be safer than a Toyota?" She then went on about how hardly anyone has died in a Mercedes before, except for Princess Diana. I know Japanese cars have a stereotype of being light and unsafe, but facts today don't seem to support that claim. Any impressions or comments? Go to the Mercedes category and view this question and see how I replied to their answers

I am a junior in high school and am leaning toward medicine. I know that it is a difficult field, but it is even harder for women, since there are less women in the higher positions. I love challenges, but I am not sure if I will be able to be successful in medicine.
How did you know that medicine was right for you? How will I know?
What advice do you have for me?
What do I need to do to get accepted into medical school?
And what do I need to do to become a surgeon?

Do you recommend that I become a surgeon?

If you have any other information on the subject, I would truly appreciate your input!
Thank you!
