Question: A subway train starts from rest at a station and accelerates at a rate of 1.60 m/s} ^ {2} for 14.0 s. It runs at constant speed for 70.0 s and slows down at a rate of 3.50 m}/s} ^ {2} until it stops at the next station. Find the total distance covered.

Answer: Acceleration phase:
s=1/2 at^2
s=1/2 * 1.6 *14^2 = 156.8 m

At that point, the train moves at v=at = 1.6 * 14=22.4 m/s, so for 70 seconds, the distance traveled at constant speed is 22.4 * 70 = 1568 m/

Deceleration phase:
v=a t
22.4 = 3.5 * t so t is 6.4 seconds
Distance traveled during deceleration is
s=1/2 a t^2 = 71.68 m

total distance traveled is thus 1796.48 m

How could have God created the day and the night, before even creating the sun and the moon?

Getting even deeper how did he created plants and the trees before creating the sun, if they obviously need the of it to live.

By the way I do believe in God i just don't understand how can you take Genesis literally if it doesn't even makes any sense.

As far as using Javascript, I know it has it's uses, but I also know that a lot of users turn off Javascript in their browsers because they can be exposed to security breaches and viruses and the sort.

So far I have been learning xHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Photoshop. I have intentionally not studied Javascript, nor Ajax. Do you see a future for Javascript, and do you think I should take the time to learn the language?

this person says he has compassion, intelligence, is not a racist or a sexist, yet continually shows no sympathy for the people of the world, never gives a straight answer (nor one spelled correctly), makes racist remarks at every opportunity, makes derogatory remarks about women, and has confused our "war" in Iraq (meant to rid the world of WMD and Saddam) with a never-ending war with Iran. I'm guessing it's the thought of a 50 ton T-rex on a boat, along with a whole bunch of other adult dinosaurs crammed into every corner of the Ark.

And if Noah had to take full-size T-rexs and other full size dinosaurs, obviously there wouldn't have been enough room. So I'm guessing atheists think this is funny because they think it disproves the Bible. But of course there is an easy way to resolve this apparent difficulty - Noah must have taken younger, smaller dinosaurs, baby dinosaurs.

Lots of room on the ark then.

Not so funny though (although it is kind of amusing how silly this atheist objection turns out to be).

Or is there another reason atheists seem to love to bring up dinosaurs and Noah's ark?
