Think about it this way, for the sake of replacing an older style, much abused mobile phone, do you want to get the reputation as someone who it is not wise to lend things to?

Do you want to be known as someone who treats other people's possessions carelessly and then says 'oh it was old anyway'.

You borrowed the phone why? My guess is that you borrowed it because at that time you did not have one of your own, even an old, ugly one.

The person you borrowed it from might like a shiny new phone, too, but they can't afford it and they trusted you with their property.

Not everyone can afford a new phone everytime someone borrows and loses the one they own.

My opinion ~ replace the phone with the very best you can afford. And apologise profusely for being careless of the person's property.

If you want to be a big person and regain your reputation as someone it is safe to lend something too, buy a better phone.

And don't forget to say thanks. And mean it.

Good luck!

As a gift, given to the owner, it was really SPECIAL, and now, the sentimental value is lost, which is even worse.

All gifts are special, given from the heart, and received in honor.

It doesn't matter as to the age of the phone. It was serving the purpose. The owner was nice enough to let you borrow it which during your time of use made you responsible for it. You lost it so......

Morally.... buy the person another, ASAP.

I don't care how messed up the phone was, the condition is completely irrelevant. The person who lost it should definately replace it and you shouldn't feel wrong by asking them to. If they haven't offered to replace it already, which seems to be the case, they need to either find your old one or get you a new one. That's the way things roll over here. People, especially your friends!, need to respect you( your belongings for example). Of course if your friend gets you a good deal on a used phone then don't be snobby and refuse.

First of all, I didn't think Razor phones had been out very long, what do you consider old. Yes, I would replace it with a new razor phone, and if you are really close to this person, I would find the cost of a simple razor and tell them you are purchasing it, for two reasons,

One - they may have already purchased one, or had one for backup
Two - they may want to pay the difference for a nicer phone.
Do the nice hones thing, you won't regret it.

The respectful way would be to offer to replace the phone regardless of its condition. Be honest with this person and ask if they would accept a used one with the same amout of minutes and features. Look together on ebay or other sites you may be able to get one at a recycling web site Good Luck. honesty is the best policy

There is only one correct thing to do. Replace it with a new one. All else is bullshit.

But if you are really hard up, you can try talking to the person. Also as you are buying him a new phone anyways, might as well get his (or her) preference and buy him that phone instead.

Now the correct thing to do on his part is to refuse to take it. (This is by eastern standards. In the US he can take it). But that does not absolve you of your obligation to replace the phone which you lost.

If you lost the person's phone then yes it is your responsibility to replace it. It doesn't matter how old or how beat up it was, you still need to replace it. The person would still have their beat up phone in their possession if it were not for you.

The right thing to do is to replace it with a new one. There is not an arguement which would make it right not to replace something borrowed which was lost or broken by another.

i think you should go back to disneyland and see if there's any way of finding it, and if you can't find it and have asked if any1 handed it in, you should buy her a new phone and tell that person that you lost her phone. it's hard to tell a friend that, but think of how worse it would be if you didnt tell her? it's easy to say that you can get her a new phone that looks exactly the same, but it would be noticeable if you did that as they wont have any numbers in their phone when they did.

Replace it with the exact style phone that you lost.

If they don't have it in stock, buy one that is in the same price range as the older style razor.
