How could have God created the day and the night, before even creating the sun and the moon?

Getting even deeper how did he created plants and the trees before creating the sun, if they obviously need the of it to live.

By the way I do believe in God i just don't understand how can you take Genesis literally if it doesn't even makes any sense.

Why are you limiting God? God can do whatever he wants, don't you think that the creator of these things can make them work however He wants them to? He can make the plants live without the sun if he wanted to...we always ask why to things our human brains could never understand...God is God and I am not..and I am so glad!

Genesis is not in Chronological order is not also the description of the creation of the universe Was all physical creation accomplished in just six days sometime within the past 6,000 to 10,000 years?
The facts disagree with such a conclusion: (1) Light from the Andromeda nebula can be seen on a clear night in the northern hemisphere. It takes about 2,000,000 years for that light to reach the earth, indicating that the universe must be at least millions of years old. (2) End products of radioactive decay in rocks in the earth testify that some rock formations have been undisturbed for billions of years.
Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earth for human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. All of this is said to have been done within a period of six “days.” However, the Hebrew word translated “day” has a variety of meanings, including ‘a long time; the time covering an extraordinary event.’ (Old Testament Word Studies, Grand Rapids, Mich.; 1978, W. Wilson, p. 109) The term used allows for the thought that each “day” could have been thousands of years in length.

But is the sun required in order to have day and night? All you need is simply a rotating round earth and a light source. God is not bound by anything and He can surely create a supernatural light source which is then subsequently taken over by the sun. Surely you are not saying that this is IMPOSSIBLE? God does not lie, a day is still a day even if there is no sun. A day is simply defined as one full rotation of the earth against a light source. The sun is just that, a light source.

well the bible says he does all this in seven days, well, considering he didnt may day and night until the last day, theres no way that there was even a concept of time. For all you know it only took an hour, or maybe it took years and since god made all those plants and animals before the 'original sin' then they're perfect and couldnt die

You are right a LITERAL i.e. right-wing, fundamentalist, Christofacist reading of the Bible does not make sense.

The Bible is a book of faith ... not of history and or science. It contains some historical facts varifiable through other disciplines, but that is not it's objective.

In Genesis there are two stories of Creation . .. both representing certain "oral traditions" that were floating around at the time Genesis was written. Both seek to convey two different messages about the origin of the universe and the relationship of mankind to God and vice versa.

there could be other sources of light before the sun(for plants).

but... if "and there was light" was mentioned, it means there was only darkness before that...it should include heaven... but lucifer was an angel of light...this gets confusing where he started giving off light... the flat earth model can explain why there can be night and day without the sun... (god simply set what time will be day and what time will be night)

at the end of the day... this still doesnt make sense.

Well founded point but how can you believe in an inspired word that needs nonsense to excuse it's inconsistency.

If you think about it, the bible really contradicts itself. I'm also a Christian, so I'm just implying, the bible is full of contradictions! anyone else notice this? But I agree with you, it is something to think about though we'll never know the answer....hm

First, there was nothing, then God said, "Let there be light," and it was good...there was still nothing, but it could be seen a whole lot better....had someone else been there.

It is just a story, which some people see as answer to a question that really can never by answered truthfully.
