Flyers near your local pool (with permission if needed), ads in local small papers and newsletters, ads at the community center on the community message board, word of mouth... Let any child caregivers or Girl Scout leaders you know of know what you are offering. Also, church is a great outlet for that because everyone talks and the youth and adults may need your lifeguarding services at some point if they have a picnic or anything like that. I found that one of the best advertisements is giving free lessons to a family friend or someone you know. Their child learns to swim and all summer long they tell everyone they encounter that you were the one who taught him/her to swim. Ask them to give out your number or info to interested parents and friends. That def helps bring in students and jobs! Local camps are also usually interested in keep a Lifeguard List, which is basically a list of guard sthey can call on for special occasions, parties and when their normal guard sare sick or they need extra hands. Being on those lists is def useful because it usually pays well since it is per diem.

Good luck!
