I'm going to start doing triathlons. I don't really know much about road bikes, or tri bikes. I don't want to spend too much money, since I am in college...and don't have much to spend.

I have owned several mountain bikes, but this is completely new to me.

My husband is military and we were told by a professional preparer that his uniforms, gas for driving to work, hair cuts, etc... were deductible, so we filed an amendment for 2003 and 2006. Called the IRS to check the status and they told me that it had been transferred to the Internal Examination dept. She said it doesn't mean it will be audited, but it's being looked at. Is this a common thing to have happen? What i'm really worried about, is we don't have receipts for all of those things if they request them. The preparer said we would be fine without them since a lot of military claim those things and it's common knowledge that they have to purchase/use those things for their job.
PLEASE help as I'm starting to freak out! Also, how much time with this add on to the 8-12 week window?

My family hates my brother in law. They have never liked him from day one. Both of my parents were so angry that my sister decided to marry him that they both refused to attend my sister's wedding. Now they are plotting to get him out of the family.
My brother in law has made sly little sexual remarks to me over the years. I have just ignored it for the most part. Now my parents want me to use it to my advantage. My parents want me to sleep with my brother in law. They want me to get him to sleep with me while they stand in the closet videotaping the whole thing. They are then going to show the video to my sister in hopes that she will leave him. My parents have even convinced my husband that this is a good idea.
My parents have said that as a loving sister, I should be willing to do whatever it takes to help my sister. And if sleeping with her husband is what it takes then so be it. Are they right? Should I really be forced into sleeping with my brother in law?

Do you know several mainstream churches are looking at homosexuality in a new light and no longer considers it to be sin or condemned in the Bible. Their scholars have searched the original texts and come to a different conclusion than the traditional fundamentalist view.

In your opinion are these churches wrong? Are their scholars not as knowledgeable as yours?

Methodists, Episcopalians, Some independent Baptist Churches, United Church of Christ, Universalist and the Metropolitan Community churches all have churches that open their doors and welcomes gay people into the full life and service of the church?

Do you know that Southern Baptist churches used to think that slavery was ordained by God..but, their scholars then took another look at the scriptures...(albeit after slavery ended)...

Should you not respect the views/beliefs and convictions of others?

When posted yesterday, several said that teaching to what a congregation wants to hear is wrong...

I hear cons say all the time, "Kerry voted for the war before he voted against it," with disdain, as though changing your mind about something is the weakest thing that you can possibly do.

Is Norma McCorvey proof that they are hypocrites?

For those who don't know, McCorvey is "Jane Roe," the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade. She, apparently, was all for abortion... until she was against it. (Pretty convenient that she was in favor of abortion long enough to have one, and then she changed her mind when it comes to the rights of OTHER women.)

Is it okay to change your mind only if you are changing your mind to agree with the conservatives?

I've got the answers to these, but I just HAVE to know why the answer is like that. You know, that's me. Also, I'd appreciate a demonstration. The most thorough answer gets 10 pts!

1. -5(x - 1) < 5(x + 1)
The question I have here is, why does the left side, -5(x-1),simplify to -5x+5, with that addition sign? In all the rules I learned I don't remember learning that.


2. 4x + 2 - 4x > 5 - x - 4
(Note that the > originally has a line under it, meaning equal to or greater than)
How does the left side simplify completely to 2, which it does? Then it simplifies to 2>1-x and from there you would do 2-1>1-1-x. Why use 1 to subtract? That brings the right side to -x, doesn't it?


3. 1/3x - 2 < 2/3x - 6
(Note that the < has a line under it, meaning ...see above) Here's one I'm stumped with. How would you go about doing this? Start with subtracting/adding the fractions from each side? Or go +6 starting with right side? Or add +2 to the left side and right?

Bush lies people die and it's like a neverending story, scandals, lies he should be impeached for his idea of wire tapping and killing innocent men and women of our armed forces. He is worse then nixon I think congress needs to stop bickering with the president and lay out a bill to rid him out of office. We need to move on and bring our troops home and start a new stragety and start off with a fresh president. The more and more bush stays in office the worser it gets. I don't think we can wait any longer. He doesn't even listen to his own people, he takes on his own opinions and puts them into office.

I had my first ultrasound at 18.5 weeks and the tech. said everything looked good but the doctor would discuss the results with me at my next appointment, which is in a month. Its a boy! Would she have told me if anything was wrong, is this a normal thing to happen? All my blood tests were normal am I just being paranoid??
