First you would separate the left two values of the equation from the right two values of the equation:
x^3 - 2x^2 + 6x -12

You factor these separately:
x^2(x - 2) + 6(x - 2)

You can then combine this result to get:
(x^2 +6)(x - 2)

If you foil this, you will find that you get the original equation.

Try Baristow's method or start with (x-2)(x^2+6)
