more often than trying to create your own response to the question.

for example, when someone asks how god was created, a typical christian response is "he has always been there". No matter how many times this question is asked, I often find myself laughing at the responses.

I laugh at almost everything that "radical" Christians say. I thoroughly enjoy their literal depiction of the bible, for instance, the Earth was created in 7 days, and they truly believe that. With Genesis they completely ignore science. They literally take Earths creation yet ignore the old testaments rules on how to treat slaves or that adultery commands a death sentence.
I also like when you ask what the proof of Gods existence is...their answer.... the bible says so or just have faith.
Their popular response of "it's Gods plan" is funny also, "pray on it and God will answer". Do you know haw many unanswered prayers there are, why does God pick and choose. Lets say someone prays to keep their kids safe and something unspeakable happens to the kid, yet God will answer someones prayer for maybe a new job? Prayer is just superstition, sometimes lucky rabbits feet work too.

Well, I suppose it's all relative- like the chick who thought light speed was the speed MAN could travel, and tried to use that in a defense against the question "If the earth is only 6000 years old, and some of the visible stars are more than 6000 light years away.." Then again, I've heard some equally stupid atheist responses. The way they'll justify certain theories, and the lengths they'll go to to make a logical reason for some phenomenon cracks me up. "The light from Venus was refracting through swamp gas, and bounced off a conveniently placed mirror..."

Hey u,

I'm not so sure that I understand.

1) God created this highly-complex universe. It takes a God-like creature to 'make' the universe in all of its vastness, symmetry and complication, doesn't it?

2) If someone else created Him in all of His complexities then who is God? Who could create Him? No one. That is a reason why people believe the ever-presence of God.

If the depth of your cynicism is such that you laugh at people's beliefs then do you laugh at sadness (you can't see that, can you?)? Do you laugh at anger? hunger? stupidity? If people believe that God is eternal, has always existed, then why is it 'funny' when all people who believe in God have the same response? Of course they do! Lastly, I find myself wondering why you spend such an inordinate amount of time laughing at people's beliefs on this forum. Why don't you spend some time doing something productive?

Why ask a question to which you don't have an answer. Respect each other, and each others beliefs.
I respect that you are an atheist and that you believe there isn't a deity. I respect Christians and their belief that there is a diety.
I don't believe........can you respect that?
Don't laugh, unless you can respect being laughed at!

We expect people to laugh, Jesus was even laughed at. But it still won't change our answers to us they are the truth, answers that non believers give is not followed by a laugh though, it is usually followed with prayer. That is why we are here. So laugh if you will, curse if you want, we will just pray and I know for a fact that prayer gets better results.

Here is mine, I have no idea how God was created, or if He was "created". I can admit that, as long as you admit you don't have any better answer, so none of know for sure and I'm ok with that. I don't "believe" God exists, I know it, and stake my life on it. Are you so sure about whatever theory you have if any?

Yes, many,many times.

It's kind of sad though that people can't be respectful of others that are asking honest questions.
