Christians take this reference from John of Patmos, who was clearly a disturbed individual, and try to dishonestly tell people that it refers to the whole 'bible'. There wasn't a bible during this time, just a series of books, letters and gospels; many of which John of Patmos was not even aware of. In fact, Revelations did not even become a part of the collection until at least a century after it was written. Read this verse very carefully and you'll see that John was referring to his own delusional and schizophrenic book, and not the 'bible'.
"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book; If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
