A U.S. Customs agent and her dog are on a plane. After it takes off, the agent turns to the dog and commands, “Sniff.”

The K-9 trots down the aisle and sits next to a teenager. It then returns to the woman and puts one paw on her arm.

“Is that dog checking for drugs?” asks a man sitting beside her.

“Yes he is. He just found someone carrying marijuana,” she explains. “We’ll arrest him upon arrival.”

“Wow!” replies the man.

She again commands the dog to sniff. It trots back down the aisle and moments later races back and craps all over the place.

“What happened?” yells the man.

The agent screams, “He just found a bomb!”

Cannot for the life of me remember how to do this...

Use newton's method the find the root of the equation x^4 + x - 1 = 0 in the interval [0,1] correct to six decimal places.

I'm pretty sure this is really easy and i'm just forgetting it. All i need is the set up, the answer is unimportant... Thanks for any help!!

Thinking about buying a house on a very sloping block of land.

Obviously I am not a builder or landscaper, but to my eyes the timber posts in the retaining walls look old, and mis-shapen in parts. The current owner says walls are 8 years old, that you'd expect the walls to last 20 years.

Any comments? Anything obvious that would give me a clue?

I mean, going on welfare would make more sense for someone who has children to stay home and raise their children rather than only make $6.50 an hour at these rates. This is cruel and unusual punishment. Geesuz what a trap.

I grew up devoutly Catholic but now am having problems accepting the Catholic belief systems. I accept homosexuality, am pro-choice, believe in pre-maritial sex, and will use birth control. I know those four things are against the Catholic church's thinking and so I wonder if I can truly be a good catholic. I rarely go to Church because I feel like it doesn't mean as much if I'm going out of habit. I do believe I live a very good and just life though and am overall a good person. I go to church when I feel like it versus doing it out of obligation. Church services do mean a lot to me.

So with that, I respect the Catholic Church and but have found that I have problems believing everything. Can I still consider myself Catholic with these beliefs? I'm sure there are many people out there who believe the same thing and consider themselves Catholic. How do you balance your beliefs with those of the Church?

I'm completely non-religious, it has nothing to do with that. I feel like I'm sort of like that guy from 40-year old virgin... I had a girlfriend once, but she wanted to wait and I didn't pressure her. I don't think I'm bad looking or anything like that, just sort of shy maybe. people usually think I'm really funny and interesting when they know me though...
