I have accepted a position with a company that has a heavy presence in the US and Sweden, so I would like to try to be at least moderately proficient in Swedish, to help my career there. However, all of the "learn Swedish" books and CDs seem to be geared towards tourist phrases, like "What is good to eat here?"

I need something that works a little better for the kinds of day-to-day conversations that occur in the workplace. I realize that involves more work than simply memorizing common phrases - I actually need to learn some of the language. Spoken is much more important than written to get started, so pronounciation and natural sentence structure is important. Any suggestions?

This has always been on my mind and I take seriously. I am curious and need an answer. I have never asked anybody about this because the subject matter is kind of dumb….


Do cows attack and do they bite? Their heads are so large and mouths so big, they scare me.


I like visiting farms and have visited friends who live on a farm in the south. One morning in the bathroom a cow stuck its head into the lower window and I freaked out and ran. I was scared silly. Then one time I escorted a group of kindergarteners on a field trip to a farm and the kids tried milking and I had to leave the barn, couldn't stand it. Now mind you I'm not afraid of the other farm animals, just cows and sometimes chickens which I love to eat.

Last October I moved to California on a limb, leaving my girlfriend of 9 months who i love dearly back home in NC, in late November she moved in with her brother who also lives in California to be with me. My living situation was unbearable so I moved back home, abandoning her. Now shes spending a week with a girl i do not trust and she hasnt called me since. i called her this morning asking why shes avoiding me, she replied shes not and said she'll call me back. ok, my hair is curly. I always straighten it everyday and i put on this kind of spray that the guy that cuts my hair told me it holds my hair when it is straight.but it dosn't work so how can i keep my hair straight? at frist my hair is all straight then it gets all curly when I come back from school.
