I have a co-worker who is 47 and married with two children. His parents are rich and have already put all the money his children will need for college away. His father has access to his checking account and if the balance is getting low, he'll transfer money into it. My co-worker has no financial worries whatsoever. On the other hand, since his father has access to his account he is able to see what my co-worker is spending his money on. If he thinks my co-worker is spending money frivolously, he'll read him the riot act.

My question is...would the financial security be worth having someone watch every penny you spent..to you? It wouldn't, for me.

My husband to be and I keep bickering over his family time. My family is all in town, almost all of his are at least an hour away. The problem is, I always get left out. If I get upset or tell him I feel left out, I somehow always end up the bad guy because I "don't want him to spend time with his family." But when he spends time with him, its like he suddenly tosses me aside, and the time frame messes with me. He wants to go spend time out with his sister, but it can't be just leaving, say 4ish driving up there and hanging out and coming back, He has to leave at noon on sat. and not come back till sunday evening. I just don't feel that its reasonable, and he never has a compromise.

The failure of subprime lenders has been in the news recently. One odd article said how people are proposing that the government enact laws or policies to prevent mortgage companies from selling loans that the mortgagee can't pay back. What I don't understand is why a mortgage lender would sell someone a mortgage that was likely to be not repaid in the first place. Why would anyone lend someone money if they knew it was not likely to be paid back?

I suspect that the people selling the mortgage aren't the ones shouldering the risk: They sell them off to investors as mortgage-backed securities, and so they see no downside if the mortgage fails. This seems very bad to me, especially if they make a profit on selling the mortgage -- this means that the more mortgages they sell, the more $ they make, even if the loans aren't sound. But it raises questions: Why would the market buy loans without proof they are sound?

My mother in law is heavily into religion. If anyone has read my posts, you'll see that she can be a little over the top. In the past, I have told my mother in law that I don't want to discuss religion and have gotten into a fight about it because she tries to push it on me and my husband. She tells me that I need to get rid of my husband's violent movies and get him to listen to religious music. I am a Christian. I went to catholic school for 9 years and I taught in a catholic school for 6 years.
Ever since our fight, she's slowly talking about religion again. It burns me up inside because I told her that I don't want to discuss. My husband (her son) doesn't agree with parts of her religion either but lets her talk to appease her. But everytime she's here in our house...it never fails. I know it's a big part of her life but there are other things to talk about and I just feel like she's disreguarding what I said.
What can I say or should I just suck it up and deal with it

What do you think of the new age limit of 14 years old to go on the X factor.

I think it's good because now it can give people a chance if they're younger.
