I don't shake, and am quite cautious as I select the portion of food I'm about to eat, yet still, about a third of the time, my food acts as if it does not want to be eaten. Does it have feelings?

Get a bigger fork and slow down. Don't rush the food to your mouth. You have to "sneak" it in so it will never see the inevitable mastication!
