Firewall
=======
A firewall is an information technology (IT) security device which is configured to permit, deny or proxy data connections set and configured by the organization's security policy. Firewalls can either be hardware and/or software based.

ADSL
=====
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a form of DSL, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional voiceband modem can provide. It does this by utilizing frequencies that are normally not used by a voice telephone call, in particular, frequencies higher than normal human hearing. This signal will not travel very far over normal telephone cables, so ADSL can only be used over short distances, typically less than 5 km. Once the signal reaches the telephone company's local office, the ADSL signal is stripped off and immediately routed onto a conventional internet network, while any voice-frequency signal is switched into the conventional phone network. This allows a single telephone connection to be used for both ADSL service and voice calls at the same time.

Service Pack
===========
A service pack (in short SP) is a collection of updates, fixes and/or enhancements to a software program delivered in the form of a single installable package. Many companies, such as Microsoft or Autodesk, typically release a service pack when the number of individual patches to a given program reaches a certain (arbitrary) limit. Installing a service pack is easier and less error-prone than installing a high number of patches individually, even more so when updating multiple computers over a network.

Blogging
=======
A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

1. A system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria.

2. Short for asymmetric digital subscriber line, a new technology that allows more data to be sent over existing copper telephone lines (POTS). ADSL supports data rates of from 1.5 to 9 Mbps when receiving data (known as the downstream rate) and from 16 to 640 Kbps when sending data (known as the upstream rate)

3. An update to a software version that fixes an existing problem, such as a bug, or provides enhancements to the product that will appear in the next version of the product. When the new product version is released, it usually contains the fixes and updates from the service pack. Service packs can either be downloaded or ordered directly from the company.

4. Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author

A firewall is to protect hackers from getting unauthorized access to your computer through an unsecure or open 'port' or connection that you many not know is open or vulnerable.

ADSL, to my understanding, is a much faster version of the popular DSL fast internet. Not sure of the speed...but as with all companies and providers, that varies.

A service pack is basically an add-on that a company (such as Microsoft is very notorious for) develops for their product...usually to make it more stable (fix bugs in the software, etc.) and/or to add on more features.

Blogging is like a big journal where some people collect links to web pages and various information that they've found online. Other 'blogs' are basically like a diary or journal that a person writes (sometimes on a daily basis) to keep other people informed of what is going on. A lot of music artists, for instance...have 'blogs'.

1. A firewall is an application that monitors the incoming and outgoing network traffic on your system. It enables you to give specific permissions for incoming/outgoing traffic on your system. Its main use is to prevent the system from being accessed by hackers.

The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

A firewall will never stop viruses. A firewall simply inspects you Internet traffic (what attempts to enter your pc system) and blocks unwanted traffic according to your firewall settings. In this case unauthorized entry is blocked / reduced.

A service pack is a application / package that normally supports features and updates to an existing system. In the case of XP service pack two, additional help and security was added to fix bugs.

A blog is a web log, basically a post or diary that you keep online and ADSL is a type of High Speed ISP connection

Firewall is a kind of necessary protection; You should really see it as a vital part of any Highspeed connection, since many hackers will try and access your system, but a firewall, once well conigured, will protect your system to a higher degree than if you have none
ADSL is a type of High Speed ISP connection.
A service pack is a file that installs a large number of updates, or a few number of large Updates on a programme or OS.

Firewall: Either a hardware or software utility that manage the data in and out of your computer or network. There are lots of free firewalls out there. Check www.majorgeeks.com

ADSL: It's a connection to the internet, another option is Cable Modems. Just call and order it

Service Pack: They are a whole group of patches bundled into one big fix.

Blogging: Blogging is just a online diary or journal. I use www.livejournal.com and it's pretty straightforward

service pack is the newest version of a system software that a vendor issue. For example windows xp service pack 2 is a newer version than xp sp1. also it has the builtin fire wall facility which xp service pack 1 doesn't have. main intention of a service pack is to act as a upgration package with more improvements and less errors.
ADSL stands for asynchronous digital subscriber line. which is like a dsl line. but dsl line has a equal upload and download speed. but download rate of a adsl line is higher than the upload rate.
