Hi,
Considering doing an online college course and would love to hear from people who have successfully done so. I would like to know what challenges you had expected and what ones were unexpected. Also I realize there is a certain amount of discipline required to motivate oneself to complete the daily tasks required. What motivated you and what do you credit your success to?
Thanks for your time. Tereka

I'm a Linux newbie coming from a strong Windows background and am trying to learn Linux (SUSE 10) and set up a web filtering server using Squid and Dansguardian.

I've managed to learn how to compile and install both programs...which was a learning curve in itself. Now that I've installed them, how do I get them to start up automatically when the computer boots up? I have to type in the commands from a terminal window each time I turn on the computer to start both programs.

Example: sudo /usr/local/sbin/dansguardian start
...and then I have to enter the root password

How can I automate the startup...really, of any program in Linux. I'm sure it's not like Windows where you just drag a shortcut into a startup folder. :)

Thanks...

My son would like to have an Easter egg hunt. He is 4 and we would have about 25 kids. Have any of you done this before? Do you have some really good tips?

According to a Commons report, approximately 80% of prisoners smoke, as opposed to about a quarter of the general population.

The question, as with crime, is this because of nature or nurture?

Is there a way to test an ignition condenser to see if it is working properly? Aside from replacing I mean. The small engine is a 25 year old 2 hp Johnson outboard motor and the spark is strong but interrmittant with a spark tester. And what exactly does a condenser do? Is it like a capacitor? Can I put 2 in parallel? Would that help the spark quality?

He's been bad since this morning and all the local vet offices are closed until monday. I'd love to have some piece of mind until then. Both of his front legs are bowing outward at his wrists as he tries to sit or stand. The legs then quiver as he tries to shift the weight back and forth and not collapse. It didn't seem that bad before, but its to the point where he can't seem to sit or stand comfortably. Being a puppy, I can't get him to relax and take it easy, so he's making it worse by running around and jumping. He doesn't seem to be in pain, but is obviously uncomfortable. He's a 3 month old lab/retriever that I got from a rescue 5 days ago. They didn't notice a problem before and don't know of any injury. Is there an actual vet out there that can tell me something to ease my mind?

A couple weeks ago I went to the doctor and they did 2 ultra sounds, one on my abdomen & one on my pelvic area. I've been afraid I may be pregnant for a bout a month now, but when the results came back they said everything was normal. Would an ultra sound be able to see if I am pregnant a month after it happened? Please help me
Thank you

For instance in the song 'The Bad Touch' by Bloodhound Gang, instead of singing "You and me baby ain't nothing but mammals, so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel" I sing "You and me baby ain't eating fresh camel so let's cook it up and give it to a sixty foot spaniel" etc.

If you do, please post the song name, artist, original lyrics and your altered lyrics.

currently i m in a rut... ive been in college for almost four years now and havent graduated.. I changed my major from graphics designs to Radiography (X-ray tech)..Basically I had to start over again because of the Gecs and pre-reqs required for radiography. I'm contemplating what I should do go for an associate degree or bachelors. Ultimately either is fine with me because I've been in school for so long. I know a bachelor's is better..but If I go for my Bachelor's I need like 10 pre-req classes (it'll only take 2 yrs form now) or take 4 more classes need to get accepted for an Associates..same amount of time...?? please help

I am only 22 years old, so I do not want to spend a ton of money on eye cream. I have also heard that people use preparation H for an eye cream? I just want something reasonably priced and yet effective.

This is the school im planning on joining, does it look good to you? When i went for a free first class, it was harder than i expected, maybe its cause im 12 and the school is mainly adults, but we had o do a lot of physically demanding stuff, and when it came to doing forms, the master there, would actually help us with the forms, do you think this is a school worth going to? ($70 a month for 2 2 hour classes)
