Hi,
Considering doing an online college course and would love to hear from people who have successfully done so. I would like to know what challenges you had expected and what ones were unexpected. Also I realize there is a certain amount of discipline required to motivate oneself to complete the daily tasks required. What motivated you and what do you credit your success to?
Thanks for your time. Tereka

I got my Master's Degree online from the University of Illinois, and I loved it. That said, there were positives and negatives, just as with going to a class on campus. Do you live alone, or with others? One of my biggest challenges was getting my family to understand that when I was online for a class, I was BUSY. Setting rules from the beginning with those you live with will be very helpful. Some online classes require group participation (everyone online at once, in a conversation or listening to a lecture) while with others everything is independent. Do you have to share a computer, or can you use one whenever you like? Are you somewhat structured? I did some work at the last minute in my courses, but I also tried my best to stick to a schedule. Does the instructor or institution provide regular feedback? Not knowing how you're doing grade-wise when you do not see the instructor face-to-face can be frustrating. Will the instructor hold online office hours for your questions and concerns?

I will graduate this May with an AAS in EMS. My degree has been compelted online and I have enjoyed it. I feel like the online classes are easier. You learning experience depends on you. I take away as much information from them as I can
