It all seems so futile - and ineveitable that more lives will be lost, vodies be maimed, cities destroyed, debt incurred, costs of living increased, etc - so that some companies can get even richer. As the media prepares us for the frenzy, and the democrats prove to be complicit, what can we do?

The question seems ridiculous, since he is so young, but unless it is my imagination, he actually shows MORE interest in "forbidden" items such as cords, computers, the (old and delicate) diaper genie, etc., than either his own toys or more innocuous household items. My theory is that this is because he enjoys the attention he receives and/or the (perhaps) amusingly unhappy expression on my face when he goes after these items. I'm torn between wanting to correct him with an emphatic "No!" (so that he will learn what is allowed and what is not) and knowing that this probably just makes him covet the items more. I'm actually starting to feel a little hurt that this chiild, who is treated so well and given plenty of his own things, may actually enjoy seeing me unhappy, but the point is, what can I do? (I don't want to keep him in a playpen all day; we actually gave the one we had away because he never seemed to enjoy it.)

this school year rolls around and i see her and well she like pulls this really weird face. like her eyes would pop out when she would see me walking in the hall. recently we have been parking by eachother and still i look at her and she looks at me. but im really shy and have no idea what to say. and everytime i see her, in my head i want to smile, but it never comes out. help!

I'm tired of people making rude comments about Anna Nicole.

Regardless of the life the women lead, we are no one to judge.

I feel terrible for her family's loss. Anyone agree? Or is this world filled with cold hearted, disrespectful people?

This is kindof confusing but here goes. So i had a boyfriend and my best friend has a boyfriend and we were all BEST FRIENDS. We did everything together. Our boyfriends were best friends and we were best friends. But then all of a sudden my bf starts flirting with other girls and a bunch of other stuff so we are no longer together. I've had feelings for my best friends bf for a while now and im pretty sure he likes me too. Now heres the tricky part....My best friend hates when i talk to her boyfriend cuz she thinks we both like eachother (which i think we do, i think) so i was talking to him and we talked about all the fights they had and we are both annoyed beyond belief about this. I think hes gonna break up with her but im not sure. He keeps telling me to not listen to her and for her not to get in the way of our friendship......What do i do?

I mean no one really knows and we don't know her personally but judging by what we've heard and seen about her through the media what's your opinion? I think, sadly, that she probably was just overdosing on either painkillers, anxiety meds., and possibly illegal drugs to "numb" her pain. She has gone through so much and it would be horrific to lose your only son so young and so suddenly! However, it is ironic because he died from a lethal combination of meds. so you would think she would have choose to stay away from everything, right? We could tell from her reality show that she obviously used something whether illegal or legal, who knows? She looked and sounded so strung out so often!

My best friend is getting married in September this year and has asked me and one of our other friends to be bridesmaids at her wedding. Problem is, over the past few months, the other bridesmaid has totally distanced herself from our entire group of friends (this seemed to start when she moved out with her bf - who doesn't get along with us despite our efforts to include him).I know the bride is upset and hurt by the fact that despite saying she still wants to be part of the bridal party, the bridesmaid hasn't showed any care or interest in the bride, never bothering to visit or even call to see how she is, nor offer to help with the wedding plans. She even ditched the bride's 21st birthday party to stay with her bf at home! Personally, I'm appalled by the other bridesmaid's actions and really want to advise the bride (and my best friend) to ditch her and find a new, more deserving bridesmaid. Do you think it's the right thing for me to do or should I butt out and say nothing??

After identifying a suspicious fellow Yankee at the local pub, Nora Shekrie decided to take a holiday at the market in Blyth. She was escorted by her not-too-distant relatives, Sir Loine of Boef and Lady Rose Boef. Nora wanted to take home some memento of her visit, something more than the prepaid travel vouchers Sir Harold had supplied.
After a morning of making nice with the locals, receiving thanks, admiration, and not a few jibes about being from "the Colonies", Nora was quite enjoying herself. The morning tea and late lunch were taking up a serene position in her abdomen, the sun was shining, and the studied quaintness of the market enchanted her more with each passing hour.
She politely examined each stall of wares, commented astutely on some aspect of almost every shop, and generally impressed the vendors as something rather better than the stereotypical American tourist. Finally, at half-past two o'clock, she found the item to take home. An youngish gentleman selling out-of-print books had an item that intrigued her.

"It's the manuscript of an early draft of the speech," he explained as she bent over to examine the fine penmanship. "One of my ancestors was an assistant to Sir Isaac Newton. He served in Parliament, you know." Nora nodded. "Dodgy times, what with the Glorious Revolution and all, but my many-greats grandfather found a stable position with Sir Isaac, right after the knighthood gave him enough money to hire someone permanent-like. Sir Isaac asked G-g-g-grandfather, Thomas Hanscomb was his name, to write some for his first speech in the House of Lords. Oh, Newton supplied the ideas sure enough, but Hanscomb did the first bit of writing, not what many could write back then.
"Newton took Hanscomb's draft, did it up his own way, no surprise to either of them I warrant, and gave back the first. That's it, there in the frame and protective glass and all, and I keep it out of the sun like you see here." The three of them noted the shade over the one item, giving it further protection from the light. "Sir Isaac made his grand speech, both houses passed whatever bill, and Thomas Hanscomb stuffed this copy into his things. It come down to me after all this time."
Nora nodded, seeming to have reached some decision. "And it's certainly dear enough," she held up a hand to stop him, "but fairly, given its history. Across the pond, a representative's first speech in Congress is considered a great event." She considered her bank balance, held a mental argument with herself, and pulled out her billfold.
"I take traveler's cheques, VISA, and cash," he smiled. Nora smiled in return, pulling out a small plastic card.
She felt a polite tug at her sleeve: Rose. " For a purchase this significant, I usually like to get my mind well settled before I sign the papers, just to be sure. Shall we have a cuppa, and you talk to me about this?"
There was a note in Rose's voice; Nora had learned to respect that tone over her ten days with the family. She turned to the stall-keeper. "Would a fiver hold it for an hour?"
"M'lady, at this price, a scone would hold it for the day."
Nora grinned. "A scone, it is. With jam?" He nodded. They had a deal.

They chose their table and allowed Harold to seat them with their food. He trundled back to the stalls with the extra scone, leaving his wife and guest to discuss the matter.
"Rose, it sounds like I got off cheaply. You certainly know your business. Care to let me in on the secret? I'm usually the one who spots these things."

How did Rose know that Nora shouldn't buy the manuscript?

I am 31 years old and getting married in 2.5 weeks. I have a B.S. degree in Fashion Design and since college I have worked as an Administrative Assistant for about 2 years and the rest of the time I worked as a Recruiter. I just finished my last recruiting job about 6 months ago. I just went back to school to become a nurse because I know that this job is in high demand and demands a good salary. That is the only reason. Now, I am reconsidering this path. I have always really liked the beauty industry. I have worked the past year as a makeup artist on a freelance basis. I love it. I am in serious thought that I want to quit nursing school and go and get a license as an Estitician. I know I would be happy and like working in the beauty industry. I am not sure if I would really like nursing. What should I do? Does it seem stupid to quit school since I told everyone that I want to be a nurse? I feel embarrassed. Is this something I should be embarrassed about or looked down upon?

I work at a preschool/afterschool program for troubled kids and we want to have a dentist come in and make a presentation about dental health. I'm not sure what my first step is. I've looked at the ADA website and my local dental society website, but didn't find anything. Should I just ask my dentist to do it? Or is there some other way?

Hello! My father is Chinese Jamaican (my mother is Black) and I would like to try to get more in touch with my Chinese culture. The only problem is that I do not know how to speak Cantonese or anything and I am not sure whether or not the Chinese population would be accepting of me since I am Black (I look Filipino for reference). So, would I be discriminated against? And where should I start?
