Ok, so someone just left a remark in the question about the gay son that said "don't listen to the atheists" ... can I get a show of hands of non-atheists who think that homosexuality is OK? We atheists would like to know.

What I don't get is if polygamy is illegal then wouldn't every other marriage other then the first one be invalid? Therefore technically the others wouldn't be legal marriages anyway.So how could they charge you with the crime of polygamy if you were only legally married to one person?

When or how do you know when there's a sex affender talking to you on the internet?????? My friend said it happened to me once, and luckily I knew better than to give my phone number out to the "girl" that was calling me a bunch of stuff then said that her brother wanted my phone number. I know very little about astronomy, but I'm preparing a talk for a class that will involve Betelgeuse. Assume that we could cool Betelgeuse so that it wouldn't burn us up and "freeze" its size at its mean size and then place its closest "surface" 384,400 km from Earth directly "above" a viewing position (ignore other factors like gravity). If it was generating enough light to be clearly seen (rather than blackening the sky), how much of the sky would it fill?

I realize that at this distance its opposite "edge" would be far past the sun and most of the planets in our solar system.

I've seen comparisons of the size of a period (Earth) to a 20-story building (Betelgeuse), but I'm trying to think of some other ways of visualizing the size of these immense objects which are visible without a telescope.

Please feel free to mention other ways of getting our brains around how big these objects we're seeing actually are.

humans need resouces to create things - we cannot create animals from the nothing, plants, humans, hearts.. etc..

that's why there must be a creator of everything we see! like, colors, water, clouds etc.
