I would let them kill me. I could never live my life knowing that I let someone kill someone I loved. It would kill me inside. Not to mention thats extremly selfish.

Beat the sh*t out of that person - only if i knew they'd actually do it! they wouldn't know what hit them but i wouldn't kill them - unless they seriously hurt someone in my family but it wouldn't be intentional
