1. In 1964-65, President Johnson told the American people that a build up of US forces would shorten the war and bring victory. By early 1968, with over 500,000 US military personnel in the conflict there, the other side was still able to mount attacks throughout South Vietnam and even penetrated the US Embassy in Saigon. President Johnson then declined to run for re-election and retired to Texas.

2. In 1969, President Nixon told the nation that the new strategy will bring victory: to train the South Vietnamese armed forces to replace the US in the war. In 1975, the South Vietnames regime was defeated.

3. Both Johnson and Nixon declared if the other side took over Vietnam, there would be a masacre and Vietnam will become a springboard for the Communists to take over the rest of SE Asia. Nothing like that has happened. The former inmates from the re-education camps are allowed to come to the US and Vietnam is now a vibrant, peaceful and friendly country with a free-market economy.

I was really interested in a story someone told me. What are/were you experiences like in the armed forces? What were you in(eg. Marines, Darpa, Army, Navy etc..)? And how long were you in it?

"Our country is pursuing a new strategy in Iraq, and I ask you to give it a chance to work. And I ask you to support our troops in the field, and those on their way." (Applause.)

The above is a quote from Bush's state of the union address.

Do you think that there is an ongoing effort here to make Americans think that if they don't support Bush's policy in Iraq, that they are also NOT supporting the troops?

Every decent person hopes all troops are okay, and come back safe and sound. Everyone supports the troops.

In this speech, Bush cleverly slips in the line "and for those on their way" to force everyone to applaud the sending of more troops. He links the new strategy with general support for the wellbeing of the troops. Did you catch it?

Maybe a show of support for the troops would actually be to send 250,000 extra troops. That would truly help the troops there to succeed. And if Iraq really is the focus of the war on terror, then why not send this number?

Once he decided to run for President the "media" started to attack him trying to discredit him. I knew there would be something to try and make him lose. They are using his elementary school education of a couple of years in a PUBLIC school and saying that it's a radical muslim school. If it wasn't so desperate a measure to hurt his Presidential bid it would be funny! Mr. Obama will continue to be attacked, ridiculed and critisized left and right because he is a conceived threat of changing the history of having all caucasian Presidents in this country. The death threats will come soon if they haven't already started. It's time for a change and this country needs to accept that fact and let go of it's ethnic line barriers.
