I think it does. Take a look at where we use, or more importantly don't use, capital letters.
The word "human" doesn't require a capital letter, but individual countries do, "England, Ireland, America, Iraq" etc etc.
The words "brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, aunt" don't require a capital letter, but individual names do; "Peter, Paul, Shirly, Billybob".
Why do we use capital letters to signify and magnify the unimportant things, such as individuals, and not the important things, such as entire species?
