it should be your choice to keep his last name.
some men don't want their ex's to keep their name so they will fight it in court.
if that is the case and the court made you change your name back then you have to do that.
in my case my ex and i had a child and he had no problem with me keeping his name for our childs sake...

Yes you can keep your husband's name after you divorce him. But not if the court changes it back for you. Why would they do that. My Step mother is American. When she married my father she still ad her ex husbands last name. I didn't think the court could make you change your name.

If the court legally changes it back to your maiden name then you must use it.

In your divorce papers you can request that your maiden name be restored, or not, the court doesn't make that decision, you do.

if your name was changed by court order the only way you could legally use the other name would be to go to court and petition to have your name changed back.

If the court changes your name, no.

Why did you change it if you were going to keep using your ex's last name?

I don't think so. When my siblings and I were younger, my mother kept our father's last name so we as kids wouldn't feel weird cuz our mom had a different last name. Now that we're older she doesn't use it anymore.
