But is attracting a lot of thumbs-downs from people.

The atheists on the page could easily thumbs-up each other and have +10 ratings. They're obviously not. Non-atheists are giving them thumbs downs anyway.

Does this mean that atheists more than non-atheists realize how pointless and petty the whole thumbs-up/down thing is, and set themselves apart from such childishness?

Because i first said it when i was like 5, and I probably didn't understand everything then, but now after doing it a few times, i'm not sure if I really mean it deep down in my heart.
