When jumping a dead battery, the general rule is to attach the jumper cables in this order: (+) on the dead battery, (+) on the live battery, (-) on the live battery, and then the engine block on the dead car.

What is the reason for attaching to the enging block on the dead car in stead of the negative battery terminal, and would it also be possible to attach the jumper cable to the engine block on the live car?

I have been using a particular company's telephone service, and a few mothns after using them, I have found out that I was receiving extra charges from them. When I contacted the company about the matter, they claim that they could not find any additional charges linked to my account, however my credit card showed a different story. This has gone on for several months, and within that time I have even changed the credit card associated with the account. After which I have still received additional charges. Last month I contacted the company again, and finally someone who is not associated with their "overseas" call centers was able to help me, and point out that some unauthorized user was using my account to pay for their services, which resulted in additional lines being payed for by me. After trying to have this situation cleared up for well over year, and getting absolutely no where with the help of the mentioned company, can I sue them for negligence?

To me forks are forks and spoons are spoons. They have the "salad" fork. I have no idea what the difference in the salad for than a normal fork is. I can see the difference in a soup spoon than a normal spoon. But a dessert spoon and a normal spoon?

Did they just come up with more spoons and forks to confuse people? Why are there so many?

One side has a large P in the center and around the edge says uncirculated Philadelphia. On the other side is a sheild and has a key inside the sheild stars in a V shape and scales , around the edge says Treasury, United States Mint. It was a friday night (12-29-06) in San Jose, my brother, and three of my cousins where heading home after the club at Taste. Yeah its true that we drink except for one of my cousin, she's our designated driver. On the way out, my brother had an argument with one of the bouncers and a fight broke out behind us and cops rushed in and arrest me, my brother and two of my cousins. We were not involved in the fight, yet we were arrested. I tried to explain to the cop, but he was being a ***. My brother was push to the ground and so was my two cousins. WTF, we didn't do anything wrong yet we got arrested and was sent in a sobering cell overnight. No test of some sort was conducted on us and yet we were charge of drunk in public. All four of us have a court appearance of Febuary 13. We are good people and never done anything wrong. We don't have any criminal record until that night. No rights (Miranda rights) was said during the arrest. Can anybody help us out how to deal with our situation

i thought i'd just throw this out there and see if anyone had experienced somthing like this.

i have a red, itchy rash on my face.
it starts out a small pimple-like bump...but grows day by day into a larger bump that eventually spreads into a raised "ring" shape with a hollow center. (not ringworm though)
the breakouts usually last 6-8 weeks...but soon another patch forms in different places on my face, so i've constantly had a breakout on my face for 3 years now.
only on face and underside of my jaw.
different medications work intionally, but them stop working...for example, one doctor thought it was a mutated form of inflammatory acne, so he perscribed Azelex. it worked at first, getting rid of the breakout, but then when it returned, the medicine didn't work....but if i wait 6 monhs or so before trying it again..it will work.
hydrocortisone, Valerant crem also works, but then doesn't work...then works again eventually.



this is very frustrating!

The latest attempt by the Food Standards Agency to help people to eat healthily has been slammed by campaigners as being unworkable.

It is claimed that 47% of UK adults have such a poor understanding of percentages that they would be unable to use the new system.

The system is described on the link below, but no example of the label has been illustrated on the website. An example was however, shown in the PAPER copy of today's Independent:

The new labelling system would show the amount of salt, fat etc contained in the product, how much that is as a percentage of your guideline daily amount.

If that wasn't enough, it's colour coded too - red, amber and green (as in the traffic lights).

Am I alone in thinking that rather than 47% of UK adults being incapable of using the system, 47% just don't care enough about their health to bother?

I have a client who has gotten behind on her mortgage payments by a few months. She is unable to refinance at this time due to pre-payment penalties on her current mortgage sending the payoff over equity. She wants to cash in her 401K, and yes she understands the very high penalties/taxes/fees involved. Her employer will not allow her to do so unless she provides a letter of forclosure for a hardship loan against the 401K. She would prefer her home not go into forclosure at all and just wants to pay it now. Every day that passes, she is charged more fees from her mortgage company for being behind. What can she do?
