i thought i'd just throw this out there and see if anyone had experienced somthing like this.

i have a red, itchy rash on my face.
it starts out a small pimple-like bump...but grows day by day into a larger bump that eventually spreads into a raised "ring" shape with a hollow center. (not ringworm though)
the breakouts usually last 6-8 weeks...but soon another patch forms in different places on my face, so i've constantly had a breakout on my face for 3 years now.
only on face and underside of my jaw.
different medications work intionally, but them stop working...for example, one doctor thought it was a mutated form of inflammatory acne, so he perscribed Azelex. it worked at first, getting rid of the breakout, but then when it returned, the medicine didn't work....but if i wait 6 monhs or so before trying it again..it will work.
hydrocortisone, Valerant crem also works, but then doesn't work...then works again eventually.

this is very frustrating!

you sound like you have a acnce problem. If the doctor is prescribing you to this stuff just use it- eentually your hormones will chnage and your face should go back to normal. I hope your not picking at your face- that causes it to be worse and scaring. Just dont wear too much makeup or use anyhitng that isnt hypo allergetic or for sensitive skin,

The medicine is working because thats the problem, after six months of taking the medicine your body gets used to the chemicals and stops reacting to them, but it seems that you have the problem figured out, just switch through out the three medicines you have through at the outbreaks, and then you will be set...

for Example:
Outbreak1: Valerant Cream
Outbreak2( 6 months later): hydrocortisone
Outbreak3(12 months later): Azetex
Outbreak4(18 months later): Valerant Cream
Outbreak5(24 months later):hydrocortisone

and so on and so forth, that should take care of the problem

Slounds a little like a disease called erythema marginatum which can be caused by medication allergies, viral infections or the early phase of Lyme Disease. Uritcaria (hives) may have a ring-like appearance and a small itchy bump and may be allergic or "idopathic" (cause unknown).

Have you tried proactive or an acne medicine like that. Did you see a regular doc or a dermatologist? If you didn't see a derma, I would. This is their specialty. You may also need an antibiotic.

I'm sorry - this sounds not only painful for embarassing. I hope you figure it out.

You say you went to three doctors, but have you been to a dermatological specialist? I can think of one or two possibilities, but it wouldn't be worth a thing here because I don't know your age, or anything else about you. I suggest you see a good dermatologist, and get the process of diagnosis started, if necessary, with a full blood scan.

Sounds like rosacea. Its not caused by but is exacerbated by hot food and drink, spicy food , alcohol. It is a condition predominantly suffered by women but can get it too. When men get it it can cause a nose condition called a rhynophyma ( cauliflower nose ) . Think Karl Malden the actor ! Google this condition for more info

Why not ask your doctor about a steroid cream to slow down the swelling? It could also be an ellergic reaction. This about what you put on your face (shaving cream, lotions, etc) and vary what you use. It could be that your body is sensitive to what goes on it.

Some microscopic skin parasites will cause markings like you describe. You really need to have a sample tested. See a dermatologist.

I know you said it isn't but it sure sounds like ring worms. Just try to use anti-fungi cream for a while (hey it's worth a shot) then you can at least guarantee it's not a fungus either.

See a dermatologist to yield best results. Do not go with a GP, MD, because they are not specialists, just general practitioners. So run, do not walk to your local dermatologist, for further conclusions.
