Especially giant armored robosuits with human pilots. Seems like a psychological thing going on there. Feelings of inadequacy? Their loss to the 'giant' Americans in the war and the need to feel big and powerful? Or maybe nothimg, just a fad in anime. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the Japanese or their culture; all men are brothers. I was just reminded of this question, which has occured to me before, when watching 'Appleseed' on TV...

I mean, here we are in London, yesterday and today, with heavy fog enveloping the airports, creating havoc and misery among the people trying to go on holiday and celebrate Christ's bithday.

Why does not his father move a finger to help his sons' friends, or even join in the celebrations?
Not much of a father is he?
My wife would never let me get away with such behaviour!

It seems to be a trend these days to send out "Newsletters" in leiu of cards, etc on the holidays. Typically they detail the persons accomplishments, throw in a few "challenges" that were easily overcome (adds authenticity to the newsletter), and some nice acceptable hopes for the future. What do you think of these??? Do you find them nothing more than family "propaganda".....a way to sugar coat everyone's life and make things look rosy. I mean has anyone ever sent one out that dealt with real issues like bankruptcy, sexual problems, substance abuse, etc.........

I am a first time mom. My son is now 19 mos. old.

Well, though I do pray about this, and try to not get too absorbed with it, I guess I still fear something happening to my son. I know that kids need to explore, play sports, ride bikes, and certainly go places where thier parents can't always be at, but how do you get over the worry?

My own childhood was pretty awful, so I guess I know first hand what can happen to children, and that just makes it worse. Plus, I am a single mom and my son was a true unexpected miracle. So that just makes me worry more about losing him. I just love him so much.

Thanks in advance for any insights you have. I never want my son to feel smothered or held back by my fears as he grows older.

I am bearing in mind that many figures come from police activity where the main goal is to tackle and subdue a suspect in order to cuff him/her, so naturally in that instance, a takedown is the goal.

I want to know where this figure comes from, if it applies to somebody actually getting knocked down due to a strike, and if it applies to regular street fights (not to the above scenario).

I have heard this statement a lot, but no proof to back up this claim.

Are you so simple-minded that the only way you can discuss politics is with overused labels? Can't you see that you're just part of the problem - not the solution? At long last, our legislative branch is more balanced. They need to work together, and if they don't, it will be to the shame of BOTH parties.

America is ready to elect a black president, says Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The nation's highest-ranking black government official, Rice has said repeatedly she will not run for president despite high popularity ratings and measurable support in opinion polls.

"Yes, I think a black person can be elected president," Rice said in an Associated Press interview Thursday.
